The Browns were going to improve on their playoff season with Bill until Art Modell went nuts. They were 4-4 before he dropped the bomb. Bill already knew he had this game by the marbles to, otherwise he wouldn't have passed on the Jets.

Actually, it's the opposite. Belichick doing well speaks to how cursed the Browns are that they couldn't find a way to keep him on the team.

I don't know about cursed so much as really, really stupid ownership and management. For one, hiring a baseball analyst for football is probably one of the dumbest staffing decisions I've ever heard of in all sports history.
