Injuries-It could be worse, at least we are not the 49er's

Came across a good article detailing what certain team's are facing going into the opening game. How many rookies made the cut?  In addition it has a breakdown of teams and how many on IR,  the worst and best. 49er's have the whole league beat!

At least we are not the 49'ers who have 15 on IR. Plus you need to think about the suspension of Aldon Smith and now if/when McDonald is suspended.

The Seahawks have the 2nd most with 11 on IR.

We tie for 3rd with the Jaguars. So at least we are not first, but why can't we be like the Bears, Lions or Bucs.

I am going to link the article, just because it is interesting. Check out how many teams are going with new kickers into the season. It does make you appreciate what we have!

Players not on the field!

It is amazing how many players just aren't ready for opening day or have already been sent to injured reserve. Would you believe at this time there are 218 players out of commission for one reason or another. The list is sure to grow quickly. Here's the breakdown; 152 on injured reserve, 22 on PUP (physically unable to perform), 15 on NFI (non-football injury), three who did not report and, most troubling, 26 on suspension.

The 49er's lead the way with 15 players sidelined, followed by the Seahawks with 11. The Jags and Colts each have nine. The top three teams in the best shape are the Bears, Lions and Bucs with one player each.

49ers could probably play their back ups and beat the Cowboys.

IR including players that we're never going to make the roster are not much of a problem. Ballard and Thomas hurt the most, but we managed most of last season without either, so I suspect we can do so again this year.

Both of those guys were coming off of significant injuries not sure they were going to bring this year IMO. The way Boom played Ballard might have been our 4th rb.

We have 8 guys on the IR that more than likely most would not have made the final 53: Adongo Ulrich Morgan Loisea Hall Karim. Then  Pendleton and Moalo give us a chance to look at younger guys without losing much like Kerr

Howell stinks the neck is serious but we got lucky with Adams I think. He is experienced not going to the pro bowl but a starter in this league started for the Super Bowl loser last year. Havili meh.

It is the guys that didn't IR but are dinged that really hurt us IMO

Holmes is the one that hurt the most. We have a young O line that needed the preseason to come together IMO. I am tired of the guy personally.

Reitz would be the second biggest problem IMO he is our depth on the O Line probably best reserve at every spot but C and really leaves us thin at T.

    • Marvin was intensly non - verbal here in Indy. That could be taken as aloof. lol Perhaps the first report after retirement of Marvin expressing himself was his allegedly shooting a gun on the mean streets of Philly.   Footwork, route running, speed, hands, reliability. Marvin, Our Willie May's.
    • Funny that Marvin Harrison was mentioned in the A Mitchell discussion . My family was from the Syracuse area and my first cousin was a teammate of Marvin Harrison.  M.H. had a few Sunday dinners at my cousin's home . To put it bluntly , Marvin had a very "unusual " personality . Very aloof among with things. Hopefully Mitchell will follow in his footsteps.
    • Agreed. I don't really care how his communication skills are as long as they don't negatively affect the team or his performance. I've never heard he was a bad teammate from his coaches or teammate, so that's good.
    • I think she will do fine or great.  I won't watch but it is good for the Fever and the WNBA.
    • I'm going to get over his ability to express himself as I see him being the best thing at his WR responsibilities since Marvin.   Yea, it's the optimist time of the offseason.  We're going toe to toe baby!    I'm catching a game a week of replays of last seasons big games, and a Colts game now and then. I hope AR watches a lot of them too. There is a way, a rhythm how the good QBs, the good offenses get it done.     One thing I see against good defenses is what a danger zone throwing across the middle is.   And we saw what a easy pitch and catch team our D is between the hash marks.
