   The pre-season "experiment" with pushing the PAT farther out is over.  Thumbs up - or - down ??

Really didn't notice a difference, although I think I heard one kicker missed one

I did learn from watching the Cowboys that you can put the ball on any hash or in the middle on extra points, something I didn't really know because everybody just put it in the middle from the 2 yard line all these years, so the kicker can play toward his strength

I liked it!!! Added a little pizzazz. Not much but enough! Could change a game if continued!

And the NFL posted a video of the first 2 preseason games of all the missed kicks and I think 7 or 8 were actually missed!

Totally agree.  You can't change the channel as soon as the team scores the TD.  It makes the extra point relevant.

I like it so far. Adds unpredictability elements to scoring now. And hey, it's a rule not in favor of offense so what's not to like.

With a penalty every other play, you'll have plenty of time to catch up with everything.

They moved it back to the 25, so it's like a 33 yd fg.  Still pretty easy, but not automatic.

So if you want to run a fake, they'll line it up at the 15 and you have to make it from there?

 

I like it the current way......the game is great, if they keep up this crap they'll turn it into flag "almost" football instead of tackle football.

How does moving the PAT back to the 25 have any impact toward making the league flag football?

It was a bad "experiment". Silly and pointless. If they feel the extra point is something so undesirable, they should just award 7 points for a TD and forego the extra point.

I was referring to all the rule changes they made over the last couple years.

 

All the unnecessary roughness calls on defenders for leading with their heads when the replay shows them leading with their shoulder. They league office is just expecting the ref's to see way too much. If you want to stop defenders from leading with their heads fine. Just don't make ref's do it on the field in the game that it happened in. Let the league office send out fines each week for players that actually did lead with their head. Too many times last year the ref's called it when the defender actually wasn't leading with their head.

,I agree with all of that. I think the concussion lawsuits are the reasons for most of those rule changes.

   2 Thumbs DOWN !!  If the NFL really wants to add a little added drama to the PAT and/or FG - then adjust the points awarded for each based on the yards the ball was successfully kicked. 

 

This would allow an offense to decide to accept their 6 pts for the TD - and - then tack on additional points based on the length of the extra point.  Could make a TD + PAT tally anywhere from 7 to 9 points.  Now THAT is drama !!

The time added for the extra point, coupled with the rate of a miss, makes it an outdated play, IMO. Either make it so there is a reason for its time consumption in a game, or remove it.
