What's up with this kid? I thought he was going to be a 3rd or 4th rounder. He didn't get drafted and is still a UDFA. I think he could be a really good corner if he gets his head straight. He's strong, athletic, and solid in press coverage. He seems like he would be a good pickup. I don't understand why Grigs hasn't looked at him. What do you guys think about him?

He seems like he has all the physical tools you would want.  He's aggressive, tackles well, and he looks really fluid in his movements.  Other than his 4.69 40 at the combine, his character issues are off the charts.  I wouldn't mind us bringing him in, but we would have to keep a very close eye on him to keep him out of trouble.

Is it just me or did several players in this year's class have some serious character issues?  It seems like more than before

Probably because character still means something to most NFL organizations.  I'd be willing to bet that when they talk to a kids who has had some issues if they hear answers like, "You know, I really screwed up and I'm working really hard do A, B, C, D to make sure it doesn't happen again..."  They think that person may be worse a chance.  But if they talk to them and they say things like, "You know it was my homeboys that did it to me, kno 'hat I'm sayn', and it wasn't really my fault..." They steer clear because that is someone who has not taken responsibility for himself.  Believe it or not being a professional football player is hard work and it takes commitment and dedication and personal responsibility and those that show they will not or cannot provide that, they are not worth the time and the roster spot.

I would agree if we didn't take a chance on Rogers last year, or Purifoy this year. Also Thornton and Hughes had some issues in their college careers. I just don't see how Hampton could be any worse than Purifoy. I'm also pretty sure Rogers and some of his teammates beat the heck out of a cop in Knoxville TN. a few years back. It was at a bar I think.

I don't think I"m getting him confused with another corner, but about a week before the draft, Hampton and his sister got into a physical fight and were both arrested.

I don't know what caused it or how it was resolved.   But I remember thinking that was the worst possible time for an incident like that to happen.

Can't be good.

Again how did they do in the interviews?  What was their responses?

There is probably some truth in your comment. With these young players the questions are designed to give the team some clue as to the mental state and mental evaluation of player in question. Kind of like those 100 question test before you get a new job. Questions designed to confuse you into giving some information about yourself up.

He had a thing with his sister then he and Quarles into some trouble all right before the draft. He can't be to bright.  He's like 5'9 runs a 4.60 40 don't see the point the 300lb lineman from Harvard is faster. We just grabbed an undersized corner from Cal. On top of it all we have our train wreck project already in Purifoy who was at least supposed to be good at some point I have my doubts but we will see.

I really like what I have seen and read about Cox seems like a good hard working kid. How big is he I see from 5'9 to 6'0?. Then of course I am on board with Dewey. They have Cox at 6'0 in this article.

I called Grigs and asked about him, told him you liked him.

He laughed, said they checked him out and he wasn`t on their draft board.

The reason was widely known in front offices, and that most fans just don`t have a Clue!.

Well, how it goes in my Colt asst. GM dreams. ;)
