Possible mid to late round draft prospects

Recommended Posts

i have researched a few prospects for the draft that i think might be worth a look in the later rounds what are your opinions on these players

1. Rob Branchflower TE UMass - i like his potential as a decent run blocker and 3rd TE his profile http://www.nfl.com/combine/profiles/rob-blanchflower?id=2543728

2.Antonio Richardson OT Tenn - not sure when he might get selected but i think he would be a wise choice in the 3rd round if he's there solid physical tackle http://www.nfl.com/combine/profiles/antonio-richardson?id=2543508

3.Will Clarke DE WVU - could be a great pickup to replace Redding he seems to have great ability to shred a block and get some pressure thats what we need on this defense pass rushhttp://www.nfl.com/combine/profiles/will-clarke?id=2543881

a guard like cyril richardson

For what it's worth,  Richardson had a very, very poor Senior Bowl week...

Looked very out of shape, very sloppy and did very poorly in the drills against competition...

I don't know how he did at the Combine Saturday,  but I'd say his stock is slipping....

During the combine yesterday they stated on NFLN that Tiny might fall because of some injury.  Some said he may have to sit out a year and some said he was a first round lock.  They didn't elaborate on the injury so will have to wait and see when the news comes out.  If he is healthy Tiny is a first rounder, Vol fan bias of course.

I only watched part of it, but he didn't have a good jjump. About 7 feet, which was the lowest.

i like branchflower's potential as the 3rd TE behind Allen and Fleener i think he would be a solid run blocker to help get some holes open for our runners id take him in the 6th or 7th round if he goes undrafted id nab him up and sit him on the practice squad just my thought

He could sub in for injury, but Luck used a two-TE set in college, and that worked really well. I can't see Branchflower ever getting in the rotation.

NO OFFENCE PLAYERS UNTIL adleast round 5 we need to address ILB CB and DE/DT

THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT PEOPLE SHOULD BE SAYING. Why are all of you worried about our offence, when our defensive needs are FAR greater. Defence wins championships. SMH ... DE/DT, ILB, CB.

Its silly to make absolute (capitalized) statements like that.  We definitely have offensive needs as well, we also don't know who or which positions might fall to us (maybe a great offensive player, we can't pass on), and we don't know which positions we will fill through FA (which could play into how we draft).

RB: Storm Johnson, James White, Jerick McKinnon

FB: Gator Hoskins, Ryan Hewitt

TE/Hback: Crockett Gilmore, Trey Burton, AC Leonard, Xavier Grimble, Jacob Pederson

WR: Cody Hoffman, Kevin Norwood, Jeff Janis, Dri Archer

OL: Michael Schofield, Matt Patchan, Dakota Dozier

DL: Deandre Coleman, Jay Bromley, Bruce Gaston

ILB: Preston Brown, Andrew Jackson, Avery Williamson, Chris Young

OLB: Prince Shembo, Devon Kennard, Tyler Starr

CB: Walt Aikens, Aaron Colvin (?), Carrington Byndom

S: Alden Darby, Marqueston Huff

Those are the guys that I've looked at recently that should probably be late 4th rounders to UDFAs. I'd like to have any of them somewhere in that range.

I think Dakota Dozier will go higher than the 4th.  I like a lot of these guys as well.  Colvin may be my favorite late round CB.  And I've said it in other threads, but Howard Jones is another guy I like if it were later in teh draft.

    • Yes, I know. The Stanford teams  when Hogan was the starting QB were full of top recruits on offense and defense. It was so much fun being a fan then. I'm not as big a fan of Stanford as you are. Being on the East Coast makes it hard to follow them as much as I used to.   Overall, I am becoming less and less interested in sports. For over 20 years, I used to listen to sports radio whenever I had free time.  I used to follow tennis, golf, baseball, college basketball, a little NBA and NHL as well as NFL and college football. I once went to 20+ baseball games in a year.  The only sport I still follow religiously now is NFL football. I try to follow my favorite baseball team, the Mets, but not enough. I attribute my loss of interest to there being too much change and movement of players, coaches, teams, conferences, etc. Stanford is now part of the ACC! My goodness! (Shaking my head) I don't like all these changes in conferences.   I was a big fan of Ted Leyland, Stanford's former athletic director many years ago. It saddened me when Leyland left Stanford to go to the University of Pacific which was his alma mater. I see he retired. He hired Buddy Teevens who died last year. Back in those days, I followed Stanford football a lot more closely. They were not great years but I loved rooting for players who also excelled in the classroom.   TL;DR 😉
    • Oh I think they are ready. They are right in the thick of it. Well educated and smart women. They are more in tune with the Indianapolis Colts than all of the new ownership in the league is with their respective franchises. I'm not concerned in the least with these ladies taking over moving forward. I think it's a great thing and speaks to the stability that the organization is preaching and looking to build.
    • I'm out this year. I'm going to be focusing on my bestballs and daily fantasy. I already have $400 invested and am making a concentrated effort this year to win some money.
    • I got the email but I’ll put it here too, I’m in.
