Trent Richardson's Take on His Performance So Far

That entire top 10 was a bust but that's no the point i was trying to make. The talent is there with Richardson, i see it, Luck does, the coaches do. Once he get's over the mental part of it and gets that one big run to help his confidence, hes gonna prove a lot of his doubters wrong.

I don't see it. I didn't see it at Bama, I didn't see it in Cleveland and I don't see it now. Hopefully, I'm wrong.

1) You have no idea of the plays and formations both guys have run. If so , please post the proof to what you contend there. Furthermore , a team can just be guessing run more often when TR is in the game.

2) What Pagano might mean is that there have been some missed blocking assignments and also there could be some run blitzes. Sometimes teams can bring more defenders vs the run than can be blocked. Teams might feel a little more comfortable doing this after RW injury. Hilton , DHB and Whalen are a pretty pedestrian group.

3) Why does the guy have to say he's stinky if he really feels he's not ? Don't you think the coaching staff would be pointing out all the holes he's missed if that were the case ? Or are they stupid like those like me defending TR are ? If that were the case , would he then come out and say he didn't think he was missing holes ?

1) Just look at the formations and where the running back goes. The Titans game Pagano/Pep gave Brown the same looks as RIchardson (power formations p the gut, stretch, etc.)

2). He doesn't have to say he's stinky, he just needs to take the portion of the flak he deserves. It's better to see players admit their faults and improve on them than just acting like nothing is wrong.

I would have to disagree to some extent. I certainly don't put all the blame on Trent, there is no doubt that the line has not blocked well enough, but I have seen Richardson miss obvious running lanes. As I've said before, I find it hard to believe that running lanes are available only for Brown but not Richardson as if some mystical force is somehow shutting down holes only when Richardson lines up in the backfield. There have been running lanes(not a lot) and he has just missed them or ran the opposite way of the open holes. Also, if Richardson was this awesome "beast" that some have made him out to be, wouldn't you think that he might just be able to create something on his own?

I don't claim any mystical force....

I think we're much, much more unpredictable when Brown is in....   he's our change-up when defenses are looking for the fastball.

And I think we're much, more more predictable when Trent is in....   I think defenses are looking for the fastball and we're giving him them the fastball.    We're not winning any battles with him on being unpredictable.

Apologize for repeating myself, but I see defenses bottling him up on our side of the line of scrimmage.   He's often in big trouble before he even get to the LOS.

That's my view from far, far away.....

Exactly. I want to see him become very good so badly. But I just don't see it. Here's hoping he turns things totally around and realizes his ''potential''! I'd rather him turn out to be great and me be wrong.

He's blind apparently, its not all his fault I know, but he has to take some of the blame. I haven't seen a less explosive back in the NFL, just looks slow at the line of scrimmage. Please prove me wrong, but Im disappointed so far.

What we need is for Eric Dickerson to let Trent borrow his goggles. :)

Seriously though, Trent will be fine. Just give it time and he is going to break it off on a team.

I agree . To me , he looks a bit like a pro golfer when he doesn't trust his swing.

    • Appreciate the response.   A few thoughts to share….   i think Irsay only steps down IF his health deteriorates.  No use in comparing him to Kraft, his health appears to be better even though he’s much older.     But if Irsay stepped aside, here’s why I don’t see the daughters blowing things up and starting over.   If they fire Ballard — fine.  But if they also fire Dodds and Brown, at that point, I think you’d see the rest of the scouting department resign (if they weren’t fired too).  They will all get good jobs elsewhere too.     At that point, Steichen is surrounded by very few who know him.  Worse for the daughters…. There would then be a clear line.   With Irsay vs with the daughters.  And if the new GM doesn’t do well and things go south, then the blame won’t go as much to the new GM as it will to the daughters who decided to blow things up.   They’ll be the focus of incredible hate if the new regime makes fans long for what looks like the good old days of the Ballard years.      The argument for not hiring Dodds or Brown seems to be little more than Ballard-hate.  Those people want nothing more to do with anyone associated with Chris Ballard.   Guilt by association, not because of ability.      Thats why I described hiring one of Dodds or Brown as the easiest, simplest, cleanest move to make.  Much less risk.  But blowing it up and starting over is the far higher risk move.  Threading a tiny needle hoping to get it right.     By the way, if you fire Ballard and company and hire a new GM, who does those interviews?   Honestly, who?   Who would you feel good about conducting the interviews of the new GM?      Firing someone is easy.  Hiring the right person is really hard.    Thanks for your patience.
    • I just want to be on record now. If the Colts fire Ballard for whatever reason in the next few years, I have no clue what direction they will go. Just wanted to get that out there in case any of you were wondering my opinion on this.
    • I understand there are a lot of people that don’t know the story. I for one am burnt out on it. I do find it funny they “stole” the Ravens from Cleveland but whine about the Colts leaving. Sports bring out the best homers and team spirit.
    • Colts by 17. Going to be a rough week for you buddy.    Thats a joke. I have no idea but would probably lean towards the Packers winning if I had to choose. I do think it’s great you may have transitioned to a third franchise QB in a row. I hope Love has a great career for you guys. Always had a soft spot for the Packers and they would probably be my team if I didn’t love the Colts. I enjoy it when you guys are good. Best of luck this year!!
    • Packers have a pretty strong and balanced team. The defense was able to hold the Chiefs to a low score last year while the offense was perhaps the only one to score over 24 points on the Chiefs defense.    But really it’s hard to say as of right now. Let’s see how everyone fares during training camp and after their season openers. Lots of things can change.
