Coaching Changes Thread

I'm not sure if that means he's safe or not. Nothing has been released one way or the other.

Gotcha...I'd assume then it's probably similar to the Jags situation and what the Colts did last year...bring in the new GM and then let him make the decision about the existing head coach.

**edit...of course, I know what happens when one assumes so...yeah lol.  A statement could be released in 5 seconds announcing that Wisenhunt also received his walking papers.

Bears asking to interview Broncos’ Mike McCoyhttp://bit.ly/U05x9O  #Broncos #NFL

Cardinals fired HC Ken Whisenhunt. Up to 7 HCs today.

As I've been reporting, Cardinals very likely to promote assistant GM Steve Keim to the GM position

Interesting that you mention Ken Wisenhunt's name.

If Arians leaves for a head coaching job and Ken Wisenhunt is fired, I'd love to have him for OC.

I agree.  I think as of now my 2 top preferences, should Arians leave for a HC job, would be Wisenhunt or Greg Knapp (assuming reports are true and he does get fired in Oakland).

Nobody wants Bill Polian???? If it ends up the case with so many GM vacancies, Chris Polian would have taken his Dad down with him for good, kudos!!! :)

Polian is in the position(age/$$$) to pick and choose what he wants to do. There are some places he wouldn't want to go to.

If something he likes comes his way then he might take it.

It's not like he's 55...

Andy Reid

Norv Turner

Jason Garret

Romeo Crennel

Chan Gailey

Rex Ryan

Ron Rivera

Lots of available seats coming up in the next year or so......

4 for 7 almost 2 months ago. Should have known Whisenhunt was getting the boot.....

Riveria may have save his job with a nice Dec.

Still cant believe Ryan got a vote of confidence.

Jason Garret has deserved a firing for 2 years now, but I refuse to take into account the "Jerry Jones yes man" factor....thats my own fault.....

The Shocking name on the list is Lovie Smith

ESPN mentioned Arians as a possible candidate in Philly

Arians should not take it if Vick is still QB. Vick is a coach killer, IMO.

Arians is better off taking a job like the Bears or Chargers with a decent QB that can somewhat read defenses.

Gailey's entire staff also fired in Buffalo http://es.pn/S23NMF

Seems extreme to me from an outsiders point of view of course, I would have drafted a QB, A WR,  A O Linemen or two and maybe a Tight End if I was Buffalo and see what happens, They are still in need a few of those pieces in my opinion but now seems like they need an entire makeover on offense from coaching staff on down

Their mistake was the huge deal to Fitzpatrick.  They have some decent pieces, but will see how the new cook likes them.

@mikecwright: Keith Armstrong interviewing w/Bears for HC job, according to league source.

Falcons Special Teams Coach - Keith Armstrong

The chiefs are also interviewing him apparently

Hate to say it but he is used for the Rooney rule. Happened to Jim Caldwell and Leslie Frazier a few times as well. Here is his bio: http://prod.www.falcons.clubs.nfl.com/team/coaches/Keith-Armstrong/37c548f7-ea99-48a8-acdf-46bd037574ff

“As I’ve told everybody who has asked over the course of the season, that the answer is, ‘Could I do it?  Yeah.’  Would I?  That depends entirely on the family and other considerations,” Polian told USA Today.  “So right now, it doesn’t look like there is anything in the offing.  And I’m fine with that.  I’m very happy with what I’m doing now"

    • "Greg Cosell is indeed a highly regarded NFL evaluator. As an NFL analyst and senior producer at NFL Films, he has earned respect from insiders for his extensive football knowledge. His evaluations, particularly of quarterbacks, carry significant weight in the football community. So, when Cosell weighs in on players before or after an NFL draft, it’s worth paying attention to his insights and assessments." • This contract makes me think about the other receivers who will now get contracts and how are the teams going to go about it:   Jamarr Chase:  he’s definitely getting $28million or more.  I don’t see Higgins staying unless there are numerous reworks and pay cuts from other teammates.  I’m sure Boyd and Burton will be their WR2 and WR3 in the future.  Bengals will definitely pick up his 5th year option, but what will happen in 2026?   CeeDee Lamb:  he’s getting paid also.  He’s gotten better every year and last year was a MONSTER year for him.  Let’s see what Jerry does.  He has Dak and Ceedee to pay and both are going to command some big contracts.     seems like aiyuk is the last one because I’m pretty sure anyone else will either have their 5th year option picked up or have gotten paid.   props to Ballard for getting Pittman paid before the top dogs like JJ set the market.
    • Yes agreed Well Deserved!    I have been hoping that Granson can turn into a player like Clark
    • Gotcha. Wentz was  one of the most talented qbs in the league based on physical traits. The Colts, in their assessment of Wentz, didn't realize they were not getting the same player mentally. I am not a Wentz apologist but I do,  and said it at the time, the Oline needed to take some responsibility in what he became. He was battered and bruised by the lack of protection and I think the beating he took in Philly and the early one he took with the Colts, knocked whatever was left of a starting qb in that body and mind. The point I am making is this. We can say he is our franchise LT and say he played really well and is deserved of a  big 2nd contract.  If one were just to look at it objectively.  Say fans and Colts media have him rated as a 7.5 and based on Cosell's comments he has him as a 5.0. Do you think Cosell could be so way off in his evaluation of Raimann? That is just what I found interesting. I mean I could say Cosell say that Raimann was say average and go okay, we can live with that. To say that he is not the answer and/or has not panned out is a different monster all together.
