Free agents and signings

Recommended Posts

These are the top 16-17 free agents that I can see the Colts going after. The ones I have In red are actual free agents that I can see Indianapolis having a chance to get. Due to need and pricing. Also I give you the best guess at which they'll be signed at and length of contract.  Obviously there has been a lot of chatter about Alex Mack but he's not a true free agent yet. And Kiko Alonso trade is a possibility but I don't have that factored in these decisions yet.

What you guys think who do you think Indianapolis will actually get. How close do you think I am in to these signings?

We need to get our corner in free agency. There's a few really good young ones out there. Sean Smith, Janorris Jenkins, Casey Hayward, and Trumaine Johnson.  Then we need to pick up an offensive lineman too. I think we'll go after Mack when he opts out. I see us signing 2 or 3 impact guys. Something like Sean Smith and Alex Mack would be ok because we could then get our pass rusher in the 1st and a guard in the 2nd. But the best scenario is signing Mack and Osemele both along with a corner like Hayward or Johnson and drafting all D. That would be a lot to invest in the OL but it would definitely make the issues go away. I'd love to see us add 4-5 impact defensive players through the draft the next 2 seasons and have a young, cheap, and very good defense to go along with what should be a high powered Offense. A defense like Seattle's should be the goal and that includes being able to find special talent in the mid-late rounds.

I think we will go after 2 or 3 maybe 4 young impact free agents who are not our own.  If he opts out I think we make a run at Mack.  Jacksonville signed him last time and they have plenty of cap space.  I think they make another run and he might just wind up there.  It will take a lot to sign him probably at the cost of adding another free agent but that is okay with me.  Stefen would probably be the backup plan if they want a center but he wasn't a hot target last year and I thought he was going to be.  Don't know why.  Osemele is a popular target but I think Alex Boone might be a better fit and maybe cost less?  I would be happy with either one.  I think we will sign Courtney Upshaw because of his connection to our new DC.  I think Trumaine Johnson would be my first choice for corner Jenkins 2nd.  I think a lot of this depends on Mack's status and if we really can sign him.

Lamar Miller would be a really nice signing. He's only like 24 and the Dolphins for some reason didn't give him the touches they should have. So you have a young, fresh leg RB who's averaged at least 4 YPC every year he's been in the league. He's the all around RB IMO. He's even a really good pass blocker. He could be a top 5 RB in the NFL if he gets the carries.

I would be happy with free agency if we retained our key players and added Mack/Wisnewski and one of the CBs.

Me too. If we could sign Mack and Sean Smith in free agency, we could then get our pass rusher like Spence at 18 and a guard in the 2nd like Whitehair. With those moves I think we'd be a more complete team next year.  With a good OL. What should be a really good pass rush. and a nice pair of corners. If we could have an elite pass rush and 2 shut down corners our D's going to be much better than what we've seen the last few years.

I like Trumaine Johnson for us. However with him being from Stockton California it wouldn't surprise me at all to see him sign with the Raiders or San Fran if he doesn't sign with St Louis. I see Shawn Smith being the highest likelihood due to him having formed a solid duo with Vontae in the past. Although I'd like Janoris.
