Anyone Else Think We Should Sign Kamerion Wimbley To Take Freeney's Place?

4 years younger and still a lot of tank left in his gas, I feel Kamerion Wimbley that the Raiders released would be best suited to take Freeney's place and play the rush OLB role (ala Terrell Suggs) in the 3-4/4-3 hybrid.

Thoughts as to whether we release Freeney and sign Wimbley???

He is probably 10 lbs lighter than Freeney but I think he is more versatile.

This is if Freeney leaves, which looks like it will happen, but we can't be sure unless it's confirmed. Once Freeney is officially gone, then it's worth targeting Wimbley. He's very underrated and was a great pass rusher with the Raiders and he was pretty good in coverage. He'd like a big contract, but we'll be able to afford it with Freeney gone.

Uh I thought Wimbley was a raider his whole career

Drafted by the Browns, played well in their 3-4 as a rookie OLB before his production tailed off and he was traded to Oakland for a 3rd round draft pick. Curiously enough, the Raiders played him at LB in a 4-3 instead of his more natural DE and he still played well.

First off, Freeney might stay as a Colt after all this season, as for Wimbley he might be too expensive for us.. but you never know.

Wimbledon isn't very athletic, even at freeneys age he is still more athletic and faster. Jerry Hughes would be a better fit.

lol wimbledon. but i think he would be a good fit for our new scheme, a better fit then freeney will be. but itll all play itself out in the end.
