Blue Horseshoe
He will wait several years but will get in eventually. Let's be honest, He was largely a product of Peyton Manning because the team's production did not change at all when he left. The best things he has going for him are the 142 game season and the being #2 in career receptions. His biggest liability is the way he failed to show up in playoff games. Reality is Marv was one of the best ever and earned every bit of it. He was here before Manning, and together they made history. Hard to forget those two being on the same page....so much so, to hear them talk about it sometimes they didn't even need to use words on-field. Loved his work ethic, been-there-done-that business attitude after a score, quickness, sharp routes, smarts, practice practice practice together, etc. Look at Reggie Wayne and you'll see a guy that could have been #1 for many teams even while playing 2nd fiddle to Marv. Clearly, Reggie isn't solely a product of Manning's either. They get it done together. Reggie is a different receiver...tougher, presence on inside routes, still stab catches, team leader, more of a locker room guy. And what about Dallas Clark.Having a QB like Manning is exactly like being in the field as a carpenter - you have to give the guy the best tools if you want the work to get done. But that house doesn't go up without either of them.

OJl
This first ballot talk is craz! He may get in. And if he does, it won't even be close to unanimous. I'd be surprised if he does get in at all. You'd be surprised if he does get in at all? That's why you have no credibility.Marvin is a LOCK for the HoF. But if Cris Carter wasn't not a first ballot guy, Marvin may not be either. Marvin's regular season accomplishments alone make him a lock. The only real argument against Marv not being a first ballot guy is his playoff performances. He was often taken out of critical playoff games with physical corner play and safety help. One caveat: IF that FBI investigation turns up anything in that little murder investigation all bets are off.

Monk, Carter, reed, Brown are all still waiting to or just got in the HoF. Marvin, if he's lucky, will have to wait as long as Monk, and that is clearly not 1st ballot. And as I said earlier depending on Marvins official retirement year he could get caught up in a back log further hindering his chances. Not only that, but it's highly doubtful the voters let Marvin in before TO and Randy Moss who are/were considered the best of the decade ( everywhere but Indy). Your statement was, "I'd be surprised if he gets in at all." You want to stand by that ignorant statement?Monk got in but waited a long time because he was never a credible big play receiver. He made his living as a possession guy. There is no doubt that Carter and Brown will be in at some point. Reed has a lesser chance to get in eventually but not until the backlog of modern day great WRs thin out a little. While I agree that it will be a little surprising to see Marvin go in as a first ballot guy considering that Brown and Carter were not, it is credibility suicide to be so surprised to see Marvin Harrison go into the HoF...UNLESS the FBI proves that he murdered that guy. Then all bets are off.
colts89
This isn't a questionThe guy was definitely better then Monk..Most likely better then CarterSame level as Moss/ better then Owens in terms of his full resumeI think he wants to retire the same year as Manning but he will be a 1st ballot HOF
