Which Would You Rather Have.

Out of these three positions which would you rather have.

A dymanic RB: A lightning fast running back who is crazy elusive. Who has great vision, can out run angles, and who is tought to bring down.

A monster DT: Who can take on double teams, domimates the run game, and is a great pass rusher.

A shut-down CB: A CB with good size and great speed. He can completely shut down WRs in man coverage and can read plays in zone.

Me personally would rather have a great DT

So your basically asking me if i would rather have Adrian Peterson, Ndamukong Suh, or Darrel Revis? Id have to say Adrian Peterson. :D :D

But for real, if we had a RB like that, we could chew up the clock. No need for a star DT or CB when they sit on the bench for more than 2 quarters in a game. Lol

I was just thinking about that, its true. they are rare.

but so are the suh type of players...how many sapps have we seen since he retired? im really asking, im curious cant remember.

Point taken. There quite a few that are notable but not as dominating. Im not sure if I'd count Suh yet, hes that dominant but he hurts his team as well. Sapp and White were truly awesome without being head cases.

Well since this is a fantasy hypothetical we can probably assume that the DT would only play like Suh, minus the stomping/personal foul stuff.

yea suh is not there yet, he needs to check his emotions soon and he aint that dominant yet but those are DT that other O has to account and they are rare too.

this is a passing league. teams don't just have one top wr and the rest garbage. teams throw the ball to everyone. one cb only takes away one wr.

in your scenario, the colts would have 6 players to cover 2 wr's. you can double both wr's send a free lb, and still have a lb to pick up anyone releasing from the backfield.

the great dt has a greater impact on the whole team and there are VERY few of them.

True, teams don't have just one top WR, but very few teams have #2 or #3 receivers that are elite or could be #1 receivers on other teams. You can have Revis cover the team's best receiver, and then leave guys like Kyle Wilson and Cro to cover the other guys.

And the scenario I mentioned could have different results if the RB and TE do different things. The offense could keep one blocking and let the other run a route, keep both to block, let both run a route and look for a quick pass, or have both the TE and RB chip the DEs, and then run their routes.

The good thing about this is neither one of us is wrong. You can't go wrong saying you want a shutdown CB or a monster DT haha

Yeah, I see where your coming from, he only needs more seasons to reach those numbers. Detroits defense is a prime example of this, monster D tackle, good outside pass rush, mediocre at best corners. They get serious pressure and create turnovers and are a solid defense, that interior pass rush, really causes problems for any QB when he can't just step up into the pocket! If the Colts had that, with Powers and another solid corner, they would look like the Bengals or Browns secondary, both create great pass rush from the inside, and are good pass defenses as a result. Only the Browns have a good corner in Haden, the rest of the corners on both teams are average, that includes Leon Hall.

    • Ignoring anything to do with accuracy, level of play, etc., just based on his injury history through 8 games, it's highly unlikely he will be our QB in a few years.  It's a catch 22 with him.  If you don't utilize his legs, it will be very difficult to win with him.  If you do utilize his legs, it will be very difficult to keep him on the field.  I've come to the conclusion that his size is not necessarily a benefit.  The collisions are harder.  He goes to the ground harder.  You don't see some of the gentle drops and rolls you see with Lamar Jackson.     The fact that he's also tied to a front office that might be counting their days doesn't help either.
    • Id say avoid drafting or taking players from your team that you’re a fan of. I’m an avid fantasy guy and also a sports bettor. I literally will avoid taking any Colts players In fantasy and also during the week in fantasy football I avoid taking the props of the players I’m playing against. I never want to wish bad on anyone so for that very reason I avoid those guys. For me personally it has helped tremendously, I can still enjoy the game without bias.
    • I will just say this about the comparisons between Luck and AR.  And even Manning.   First, as far as overall talent?  I think AR has more talent than Andrew.  And I say that as the biggest Luck fan that there is.  I loved that guy.  But he always reminded me of a Manning wannabe.  Someone who had more pure talent.  Who was very smart.  But I never ever got the feeling that he wanted to win and put in the hours that Manning did.  And I think that was proven when he retired so early.  Manning was like an AI robot who studied 23 hours a day.  Just a huge will to win.    But what Luck had was pain tolerance, drive and overall ability due to his teaching since he was a kid...and his will to do what is right for the team.    IMO that was 100% MORE than AR's is right now.  Not even close.    If only you could clone a combo between Manning and his smarts, Luck and his pain tolerance, and AR and his pure athletic ability.    I am sorry but unless AR is the unluckiest person in the history of the NFL, NO ONE gets hurt this much.  He is a wreck.  Heck I remember in his first pre season game last year he ran out of bounds and started to limp.  Literally his very first hit ever.  Right then I said to myself "uh oh".  And then he has not finished what......4 of his all time starts?  Out of 8?  I mean....that is not normal QB behavior.  He seems to get hurt on almost every hit he takes.    Make that make sense.    It is very VERY odd to say the least.   I want AR to do well because he seems like a good guy and he has all the talent in the world  But after this last game and his words after? For lack of a better word I don't think he has any ability at all to do 2 things.     One....protect himself.   Two.....take a hit and feel pain without it being the end of the world.  He seems to have no pain tolerance whatsoever.  Which is fine.  Just don't be an NFL Qb as a result.
    • I'm not creating anything.  Till AR can stay on the field it's Flacco that has to be tough.
    • I understand that but till AR shows he can stay on the field, Flacco has to be the man. It's that simple.
