Rams pick for RGIII this year could easily be top 5, maybe #2

Recommended Posts

The Rams may be in a position to entertain offers for their pick again if Washington implodes and loses out down the stretch.  They have 49ers, NYG(2), Dallas, KC, and Atl remaining.  I could see the Falcons, Texans, and maybe the Bucs leap frogging the Skins.  That would leave the Skins, Vikings, and Jags at the bottom.

However there are currently 9 teams with 4 wins.  Skins have 3.  Falcons, Texans, Bucs, Vikings 2.  Jax 1.

Time to move on from Sam Bradford for the Rams.

I would not be shocked if the Rams take a flier on Johnny Manziel who needs to go to a team with defensive talent so that he does not have to carry the burden, just like Russell Wilson with the Seahawks.

Problem with Bradford to me is that he hasn't been so bad that you can just label him a bust and move on, but he's not ever shown that he's good enough to take them places.

If they don't go QB, then they would be wise to trade down if they end up in the top 5.

I'd personally move on from Bradford. How is Kellen Clemens able to get more out of that offense and Tavon Austin than Bradford?

Bradford, like Alex Smith, needs to go to a team where he gets a LOT of help from the running game because he cannot put it on his "weak" shoulders.

Agree ... Bradford is not bad necessarily, but is never going to be a QB that can carry a team/will them to win.  See Alex Smith, Andy Dalton, Matt Schaub, etc ....

Wouldn't Bradfords contract be an issue? I'm sure he's guaranteed something silly next season like his entire base.

This season (2013) was his last real big dead money year, it would have cost them over $23 million had they cut him this season.  If they cut him next season it will cost them $7.1 million in dead money; keeping him next season costs them a lot more though ($17.6 million).  So what they save by cutting Bradford will pay a high 1st round QBs salary next season + give them about $5 million in additional cap space.

Thanks for clearing that up, you know with a QB rich draft and the Redskins woes this makes a lot of sense. All you need now is for the Cards to get a decent QB prospect and that's a heck of a scary division for a long time.

    • Yeah, Ebukam almost looks clumsy next to Latu. He's just so fluid.
    • Did Hou actually get that much better? This really does remain to be seen. I am of the opinion that the signing of Diggs is a signing that has been made about 2 years too late. He won't be bad, but he isn't a top 10 WR in the NFL anymore. I wouldn't put him as any more dangerous that Pittman, so WR's are a push. We have the better RB, Mixon is great and all, but he is not JT. We have the better Oline, and it isn't even close. TE's are a push, we have a lot of upside, but until it is realised im very "meh" on our TEs. QB - I would argue that Stroud is probably more likely to regress to the mean in year 2 vs improve. That rookie season of his was a bit silly, and they had an easier schedule last season too. If he really does build on last year and get even better, then our entire discourse here is probably irrelevant as we will have another Mahomes level QB on our hands to deal with in the AFC and within the AFC South no less. So unless Richardson is also a Mahomes level talent in that scenario, we are done for anyways. To me, our success in this coming season comes down to 2 groups on this entire team. 1. The QB (because... duh) 2. Our DBs. If we even get average play from the DBs, I think this team has the ability to win the whole damned thing (supposing Richardson stays healthy and is what we all hope he is). I would also argue that Houston are paper thin. If they lose a OL starter, Mixon or even one of their starting WRs.... they have a very big drop off. And injuries happen in the NFL. Just sayin...
    • If he wasn’t fast enough or athletic enough anymore for linebacker, then he’s not going to be able to cut it at Safety where speed , quickness, athleticism are even more important.    Wish it wasn’t so….
    • could he be another bob sanders at that position?
    • Man I love me some Maniac, but it won't happen, and he's too slow after his surgeries.
