Colt Line Moved Down 4 Points

Opening line on the game was 12 , quickly went to 10 and now 8 to 8.5. Scares me a bit seeing all the money going on the Rams. That's a huge move , especially considering no real injury news.

That's why I don't gamble. Vegas doesn't build million dollar casinos because they're lucky.

The Colts barely covered the spot against Houston, and except for the Jags haven't cover other games when favored. I couldn't care less if we cover the spot, as long as we win.

I'm not betting the game either. Just scares me that the smart money is jumping all over SL.

The line really has not moved four points, only two. The line that you see that was originally 12 points comes out on Sunday night by Las Vegas Consultants, who supply it to the casinos. The casinos then use the line to look at interest on the line, and see where they believe it should be posted at. Almost all the casino. Every casino in Vegas came out with the line posted at Colts -10, except for the Hilton who had us -11. The line has fallen to -8 in many casinos, but it is still at -9 at a couple. The Colts are a very public team when it comes to betting, and when asssessing line movements, you need to look at who the public is betting on, not the line move itself if you are a bettor. The public is about 57% on the Colts side, so it just shows you the sharp money moves the lines. It also shows you why betting is very hard and if you win at above a 55% rate you are doing well.

What does this add up to. I know too much about sports betting, and just enough not to do it!

The smart money is the money that moved the opening line from 12 to 10.  Yes ..it's comes out on Sunday night and the casinos are very quick to move it. That is the "smart money " that I talked about. There are betting groups that absolutely kill it betting the opening lines in pro and college football. I'm in CA and know professional poker players that bet for some of these guys. They find lazy or dumb bookies that are late moving opening lines that make big moves. They get free rolls or just 10 of the bet just for placing it. It's tough to keep doing though as they eventually get shut off.

I mentioned 12 to 8 as that is a really big move. I also don't know about the Colts being a public "betting favorite. I don't see where any line other than this one really moved this year. For sure I don't think the lines have been "bloated."

The line hasn't moved 4 points....L and P is right

The line opened Sunday night at 12 . It is now as low as 8 in about half the books. That by my math would be 4 points. If you mean to say that it was only 12 for a short time , that would be correct.
