:blueshoe:   Believe me when I say - I had a different QOTD in mind for today - but - another Jim Irsay verbal faux pas demands I call an audible:

Do you believe that Jim Irsay's comment was a shot at Peyton Manning - OR - an indictment on the entire team structure going forward ??  :blueshoe:

:blueshoe:   Okay Colts peeps - I'm gonna kick off the responses to this question:

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap2000000264200/article/john-fox-irsay-comments-a-cheap-shot-at-manning

I invite you to visit the above link - and - listen to the Charley Casserly defends Jim Irsay.  I love Casserly's explanation in the overall context of the Indianapolis Colts TEAM at the time of Manning's departure.

Honestly - Irsay NEEDS to work on his interviewing skills - BUT - the Polian regime had buried the franchise with over-priced contracts for a variety of players.  It was IMPOSSIBLE to field a well-balanced team because of the top heavy salary cap structure.

Plus - "baby Polian" wasn't qualified to run a team - nor - had his father's acumen for evaluating talent.  There were far far more "misses" than "hits" during the later drafts.  High round "busts" such as Tony Ugoh negatively impacted the team - for YEARS !!

While Jim Irsay made the decision that hurt him - hurt Peyton Manning - hurt die-hard Colts fans - and - hurt the team briefly - the ship is beginning to be righted.

I would dearly LOVE to be in the crowd Sunday night to welcome Peyton Manning back to Lucas Oil Stadium - and - to honor the contribution he made to this team - and - the central Indiana community.  Regrettably - financial reality denies me that opportunity.  But for the fans fortunate enough to be in attendance - THEY finally get a chance to say good bye - good luck - and - we still love you !!  :blueshoe:

No. Irsay hasn't aimed a single shot to anyone.

He explained his new approach, and John Fox jumped on it to stir a little media-circus before the game. That's all.

There is no way it was a shot at Peyton/GM/Team its just a media twist

The media is terrific at twisting stupid comments. Don't make stupid comments?

Irsay need not continue to explain his decision. True-Blue Colts fans understand the move.

Haven't seen a thread about actual football in a couple of days, everything is Manning Irsay, I can careless, it's in the past, colts are fine, Manning is playing great, I just want to enjoy a good game Sunday night and actually talk about football leading up to the game

    • Maybe I'm using incorrect terminology when saying he's an OLB (EDGE might be more appropriate, but I'm not sure what an EDGe encompasses compared to a 4-3 DE or 3-4 OLB ), but I definitely have seen seen him have more reps standing up than with his hand on the ground. He also was asked to play in coverage as well.
    • Somewhat surprised. I figured it would be odunze at 9. Nabers is very talented, so I understand, and happy to hear he was making offers.
    • From what I've seen reported Arizona was shutting down any trade requests. They weren't even listening to offers because they wanted MHJ. So yeah... If I had to guess the Colts wanted Nabers. They did work on him, had him on top 30 visit. IMO our best chance was probably the Chargers pick at 5, but it must have been really expensive.
    • Reddit is essentially internet prospecting. You have to sift through a bunch of waste and junk, but there are occasional nuggets that make it a worthwhile trip.    I get the most use out of it in regards to gaming. When I have a question or issue with a game I’m playing I almost always find a solution on Reddit. It’s good for stuff like that, but for general discussion and debate, yeah it’s a total cesspool.   I’d bet the farm on it. No hesitation. We spent enough years with frank listening to him talk about what he wanted in a QB and what he wanted them to be able to do that I can’t see frank wanting Young over Stroud even after a 3 week fever dream. Stroud checked all the boxes he ever laid out too perfectly. And after having a full year of sample size on Stroud, he and frank probably would have been a pretty sweet pairing, much akin to the Luck/frank pairing.
    • it’s like if Latu goes off next year and is rookie of the year, and saying Ballard made a genius move to not trade up and pick Latu because he just knew he’d be there. That’s how ludicrous that argument is. He admitted they felt very lucky, and were… especially if he turns into a pro bowler soon and we look back in hindsight.
