Perhaps the one real encouraging thought in this so far troubled season is that when the '06 Colts won the Super Bowl, during that regular season they won a LOT of games in super ugly fashion.

 

Looking at their remaining schedule, I now have them going 9-7, but still winning the division.  I am hopeful, though, that they will work their issues out and surprise me the rest of the way.

 

- Hopefully the OL will unexpectedly gel and provide the QB with more than a millisecond to survey the play and make a pass, and when running actually open up some holes for Gore (and Bradshaw?) to consistently exploit.

 

- Hopefully the RBs will quit fumbling, especially in critical game changing situations.

 

- Hopefully Luck will get his health back and thereafter get accurate and make quick, effective decisions.

 

- Hopefully the DBs will stop getting hurt and Toler will return to solidify the secondary.

 

- Hopefully Mathis will soon be used the majority of the time and provide the non blitzing pass rush the Colts so desperately need.

 

- Hopefully the Colts will put to bed all of this talk about a divide between Grigson and Pagano by way of giving Pagano a palatable extension.

 

- Hopefully the linebackers, and in particular the ILBs, will step up their game and provide the middle line defense that might actually enable the defense as a whole to become a top ten D.

 

- Hopefully Andre Johnson will get comfortable and get utilized and actually make some plays

 

- Hopefully Pep Hamilton will get a clue and start coming up with an offensive game plan that keeps teams off balance and take advantage of all this weaponry the Colts have on paper secured.

 

- Hopefully the Colts can pull off the miracle upset, setting their season straight upward, in defeating the Patriots in a couple of weeks!
