Colts Corner Coverage vs Texans

Huh? Are you going to talk about the previous coverage the Colts DBs have had against the Texans WRs? Or what you think will happen next time we meet? Or are you trying to say our coverage is so bad that it will appear later?

I think he is planning on writing a detailed breakdown of our coverage vs the Texans (I don't know which week, but I assume the secong game).

Sorry about that guys, I am going to go through every game starting with week 1 vs the Texans and type out what I see in coverage to the best of my ability, Im new to learning, what routes are what and what coverages are what,

Play 1(First Down)- Texans line up in the I formation (thats two wide receivers split outside and ant a Fullback and Halfback in the backfield) Jerraud Powers is lined up on Kevin Walters (#83) 5 yards off of him while Jacob Lacey is lined off 3 yards off of Andre Johnson, #86 James Casey goes in motion to the left Angerer shifts out to the left to cover Casey, Bullit takes 4 steps up and then two steps back, the ball is snapped, Jacob Lacey appears to play bump and run before releasing Johnson, Johnson goes in on a Slant it appears the Safeties are late to react to the Slant, Johnson catches the middle at the Colts 44, Johnson makes it to the 39 yard line of the Colts. This was just an attempt and my first attempt at this so give me your opinions and their will be more to come, I will do the rest

While I am sure every appreciates your willingness to do things like this I can't help but think it's a complete waste of time other than for you to understand the game of football a bit better.

To alot that dont take notice of play breakdowns and just the average fan I am sure it will be a waste of time

You very well could be right and it's not my place to tell you what to and what not to do. So by all means scout as much as you want.

To me it's not really relevant to this years team, different players and different scheme. The way you would react to a slant, dig or any route is different in a cover 2 where the corner is mostly playing the flat/hook to curl vs a 3-4 where he is probably going to be maned up on the guy or playing deep thirds.

I think it's great that you are taking the time to study each play and learn though. It really changes the way you watch the game. You can read O-Lineman and already know basically what the play is while the QB is still dropping back.

    • Funny that Marvin Harrison was mentioned in the A Mitchell discussion . My family was from the Syracuse area and my first cousin was a teammate of Marvin Harrison.  M.H. had a few Sunday dinners at my cousin's home . To put it bluntly , Marvin had a very "unusual " personality . Very aloof among with things. Hopefully Mitchell will follow in his footsteps.
    • Agreed. I don't really care how his communication skills are as long as they don't negatively affect the team or his performance. I've never heard he was a bad teammate from his coaches or teammate, so that's good.
    • I think she will do fine or great.  I won't watch but it is good for the Fever and the WNBA.
    • I'm going to get over his ability to express himself as I see him being the best thing at his WR responsibilities since Marvin.   Yea, it's the optimist time of the offseason.  We're going toe to toe baby!    I'm catching a game a week of replays of last seasons big games, and a Colts game now and then. I hope AR watches a lot of them too. There is a way, a rhythm how the good QBs, the good offenses get it done.     One thing I see against good defenses is what a danger zone throwing across the middle is.   And we saw what a easy pitch and catch team our D is between the hash marks.
    • I think as the team ownership slowly transitions from Jim to his daughters, the likelyhood of change and tweaks will increase. They will most likely honor the spirit of Jim's wishes when that day comes, but seek opportunity to put their own spin on things......I think we are already starting to see some signs of that already.
