Yes, that is defined as "What could have been" to me.

2009 is "Shooting Yourself In The Foot" to me. Since I have been a fan only since the Peyton drafting days, here it goes:

1999 - The Colts Are Relevant Again

2005 - What Could Have Been

2006 - It Was Our Destiny

2009 - Shooting Yourself In The Foot

2012 - The Youngling Makes His Mark

2014 - Patriots Deja Vu Again

2018 - Finally A Playoff Win Again

2023 (last season) - Just 1 Yard Short

You have a point with 2005 but they lost. Still, you are not wrong because the best team doesn't always win but we did win it all in 2006. Sucks, Edge wasn't a part of it. We had a lethal offense.

Regarding 2005, when we got to 12-0 and were just toying with teams, I was ready to compare them to teams like the 72 Dolphins and 85 Bears.

When I see the chiefs I don’t see the 2005 Colts. So greatness to me is something else. It definitely was what could have been. I’ll also never forget Jerome Bettis’ face when he fumbled that football.

I don't think any of 3 Chiefs championship teams could beat our 2006 team. QB is a Wash. We had more weapons on offense though and better Pass Rushers + Bob Sanders. We also had the most clutch Kicker of all-time.

Only teams that I would fear going against our 2006 team would be, teams like the 1989 and 1994 49ers, 1992, 1993, 1995 Cowboys, and what the Pats had in 2003 and 2004. Peyton would take care of business against anyone else IMO. We owned Baltimore, so Ray's teams wouldn't beat us either. We were better than what the Chiefs have now, Dungy and Reid are a Wash, Peyton and Mahomes are a Wash. Chiefs don't have any combo like Freeney and Mathis though. Marvin is better than any WR they have ever had as well.

Every team in NFL history has a weakness. Chiefs weakness is playing against a team that has 2 Edge Rushers that can get to Mahomes, that matchup is good for us. Bucs in the 2020 SB proved that = Tom + Defense. If I was ranking greatest teams I have ever seen based on talent and just being great for many years with the same core: The 2006 Colts are arguably in the top 5. You had 2 versions of the 49ers = 1989 and 1994. 89 had Montana, 94 had Young. Both teams had great defenses too. The Cowboys best team was probably 1993 because it was a back to back and Jimmy was still their coach. Emmitt won League MVP that year as well and Troy was the most accurate QB in football + their Defense was very good. The Patriots in 2004 were outstanding had almost no weakness either. By then Tom was great and their Defense and Sp Teams + Coaching was just unreal. The 1985 Bears were dominant, but their offense had flaws, so they were beatable. Chiefs are great though, if they 3peat, bragging rights are theirs.
