Kevin Zeitler, Wisconsin

Recommended Posts

If Fleener has gone, I wouldn't mind seeing us pick Zeitler.

Some may see as an ever so slight reach, but the guy is a really good Guard. He's good in both pass AND run protection, assisted Montee Ball on his way to almost 2,000 rushing yards last season, comes from a college which has produced decent linemen (Thomas, Carimi, Konz).

It's not particularly the most exciting pick in the world but I think it strengthens the trenches - something which Grigson has assisted in previously whilst with the Eagles.

We don't want Luck turning into the new David Carr, do we?

I'd love to see us get Josh Chapman in the 4th but we obviously need some talent to throw to. Getting Baptiste late on wouldn't be terrible really.

1. QB Andrew Luck

2. OG Kevin Zeitler

3. CB Brandon Boykin

4. TE Ladarius Green

5. WR Tommy Streeter

5C. NT Nick-Jean Baptiste

6C. TE/FB Evan Rodriguez

7. WR Jermaine Kearse

7. DE Matt Conrath

7C. ILB Adrien Cole

Protect Luck, the franchise, nothing else is more important. O-line, you normally get what you pay for. Either get them early (1st 2 rounds) for a starter or get them real late (5th round or later) for a project, IMO. Along those lines, Kevin Zeitler would be a franchise starter pick and could potentially start after competing in TC.

In my mock draft I took him, because we'll be playig more I-form and two receiver formations, so we have to get good O-linemen(guards for Gods sake) and athetic TE's at least two, Fleener or Charles or Hanna or Rodriguez

Yeah, Green + Rodriguez in mid rounds should be okay - if not then we could get Tyler Eifert next year perhaps?

My plan would be get a TE that can start this year and Rodriguez ar FB/H-B and next year draft a TE in a strong draft class for TE's and let Eldridge go when his contract is up and have to quality TE's and a great FB/H-B

Agree. With my draft there, our Offense would read:

Wayne - TE Green - LT Castonzo - LG Zeitler - C Satele - RG Ijalana - RT Justice - WR Collie - Streeter/Avery

QB Luck

FB Rodriguez

HB Brown

Defense:

FS Bethea - SS Zbikowski

CB Boykin - ILB Conner - ILB Angerer - CB Powers

OLB Freeney - DE Moala - NT McKinney/Baptiste - DE Redding - OLB Mathis

I think things could be a lot worse.

I believe Thomas would start over boykin because he has more talent and we need a starting nose tackle, i think taamu would be great in the third round, hicks or jean baptiste would be developmental rotation guys, I am not high on getting

Yeah. A lot of people want early WRs, but if we want to improve our offense, picking up a solid o-lineman would probably serve as the best upgrade to our offense. The guys we have at wide receiver right now aren't all superstars, but if we have a line that can protect Luck, he'll be able to make it easier on our receivers. And hopefully they don't go dropping balls.

If this happens, I would be OK with it. It seems practical and smart. We still need a pass catching TE, but we'll be fine at WR without dipping into the first 3 rounds. Next year we get a franchise WR. This year go BPA, and if that's the Zeitgeist, so be it.

zietler isn't worth our 2nd round pick and if were gonna go oline i rather have mike adams or cordy glenn. both of those guys are better then zietler and could play rt. castonzo, reitz, satele, ijilana, adams would be better.winston justice is just a back up we need a rt.

Well I have Adams going at #32 to the Giants and Glenn at #18 to the Chargers. Zeitler is a really good prospect.

zietler is a good prospect but not worthy of our 2nd round pic. offensive guard isn't a major need with both reitz and ijilana but rt is. if adams or glenn is gone then we have to look at wr,te,cb.

We don't know Grigson's board, so none of us can definitely say that Zeitler is not worthy of our 2nd round pick. We will see how it unfolds. I for one would like to know how it would feel for a Colts QB to be able to have the time that Brady gets from his O-line where he can sip a cup of tea and then throw the ball :).

I love the Zeitler pick. It is actually not a reach at all. I have have seen numerous mocks having him going the the 49ers in the first round. Zeitler's strength is run blocking and needs to work on pass protection, but he could be a huge contribuotor for the next 10 years.

Actually, the only guy I would take ahead of Zeitler is Coby Fleener.

I agree 100% that protecting Luck is priority number one!

Ah, we can dream, can't we?

This is my favorite mock i've seen. Just don't think streeter will be there. Maybe Streeter in the 4th and the TE from Cinncy in the 5th. Really like rounds 2 and 3.

So far Big Ben is still a tackle so I wouldn't go as far as to say we don't need a OG and do need an OT. Maybe that will be the case. Who knows. Even if Ben moves to guard, Zeitler would be a big time upgrade over Reitz.
