Report: Colts May Look Hard At S Nakumura Ravens

Pagano being a former secondary coach and familiarity with the guy means one of two things....he has some talent or at least can be a temperary stop gap as he knows the system. Either would be satisfactory. Landry has been injury prone and obviously spent WAY to much time in the weight room. I remember Charger/Dolphin receiver Boston who bulked up like that and all it did was mean MORE injuries carrying all that weight....and possibly steroids lol.

no i want landry

and get an expensive Bob Sanders like player. Have fun watching him cheer on the players from the sidelines. He'll get injured before the season starts. Not worth it!

Now with Nakumura, he had some good and he had some bad this year. Didn't play much with Reed and Pollard as the starters, but when he came in, he didn't look great. Plus, he's a FS and Bethea plays FS. Look for more of a Thomas Decoud kind of player.

He has horrible legs. It's not like those 2 injury filled seasons were 2 freak injuries. They were mulitple injuries that made him miss 2 games and he would come back and play a half and miss another 2 games. He tends to come back early. He started the beginning of last year on the PUP. He plays a way too physical game to stay healthy. He's a great talent, but he's injury prone as he's had at least 7 different injuries in the last 2 years, including a couple of hammy's and a groin injuries. A shoulder injury also effected him, a thigh injury hurt him and even a finger injury held him out for a little bit. He gets injured everywhere like Sanders.

we dont have much cap room to sign free agents this year. next year we might land someone like you're talking about but not until then.

we have about 20-25 mil to spend this year..and thats not even counting the additional 14 mil we will get once we let go of Freeney..I think we'll be alright..and I'm pretty sure this guy won't command top dollar..

but thats what we need. we need someone to be able to play on the line whos physical so bethea doesnt have to and can do what he does best which is play center field. he might have injuries but the biggest difference between him and sanders is that he hasnt missed a massive amount of games.

That would have worked before Pagano. It won't work as much in our 3-4 defense. The safeties are coverage first, not run stop first. No one is Bob Sanders, injury wise, but Landry has missed as many games as he's played in the last 2 years. It's a concern and on top of all of this, he wants a big contract, look at the contract he had in WSH. It was 6M+ for the last couple of years. How can the Colts give a contract to a guy who's been injured a lot lately and is asking for a 6M+ contract. It's too risky and not really worth it. Playing in the box is his thing and Pagano doesn't do that as often. I'm not saying he wouldn't do well with the Colts, but I've stated my concerns and the teams probable concerns, so it's not likely he signs here.

Pollard doesn't play much or at all on the line. Polamalu does but that's irrelevant in this situation. The REdskins gave him a big deal and the frame of mind that he deserves that money. It's too expensive for the Colts especially now and if he gets injured, it would just kill them. They can't invest a lot of money in a guy who's missed half of his games in the last 2 years. Better options out there like Decoud, who's not that expensive, young and has good potential.

Finally some talk about adding someone! I want him just because we are talking about adding someone and not dumping players! Clearly that is said a bit tounge in check but he does seem to make sense if the colts can land him.

You are speaking my language....

..This is the time to be signing players...and we need to start filling needs....and safety is a glaring need

we only have so many draft choices..

..a half dozen O-linemen were released this weekend.....

    • Hmmm.   ”Healthy excuses will be hard to come by.”    Really?   Richardson, who had less than a thousand snaps in college, then had roughly 200 snaps his rookie year.  There’s one.   And Houston has Stroud who had a great rookie year.  Aren’t most media predicting Houston and JVille ahead of Indy this year?  That’s two without any trouble.     I just think insisting on a division title because a fan thinks it’s time doesn’t stand up to much scrutiny.   Sorry, just my two cents…. And often not worth that much.
    • For me absolutely it does. If Richardson stays healthy excuses will be hard to come up with. As positive as I am with Ballard at some point we have to start winning. He bet on himself by bringing in his own home grown talent this year, what he does at safety in the coming month and a half has me worried as well. We were so close to winning the division last year with a back up QB that my expectation is winning the AFC south this year.    If they make it into the wild card game and lose then the seat is just as hot for me. If they advance further and make a Cinderella run then I’m fully back on board.
    • 3 straight losses for the Reds. They have their moments where they play well. But it’s time to be real. They aren’t a playoff team and will never be as long as the Castillinis own them and David Bell is manager.    De La Cruz is fun, but his career will be wasted on this team.
    • Am I reading this correct?   You think Ballard’s seat gets hot if the Colts don't win the AFC South?  Really?   So if the Colts don’t win the south but make the playoffs Ballard’s seat still gets hot?    Just making sure I understand your viewpoint.
    • Yes, yes he did. If you scroll back to old Pagano post you’ll see how much blame he got. I definitely hold Pagano is regards to letting Luck down on the offensive side of the ball. I also see the Houston Texans inevitably going down the same path.   D’joun Smith is who you’re thinking of.   Grigson is looked at as an overall bust and a terrible drafter so naturally the blame will be more widely accepted. There is no doubt things will be heating up under Ballards seat if anything less then winning the division is obtained this year. The QB position has been his Achilles heel. If Richardson is healthy this season I believe his roster will be very heavily evaluated with no excuses this year.
