Guess the 53-man roster [Game]

stitches

Recommended Posts

I thought we make a game out of predicting the 53 man roster. Here are the rules:

0. We are talking about 53 man roster on Sept 9th.

1. There will be 3 tiers of players:

1.1. Tier 1 - No way they get cut - 15 players

1.2. Tier 2 - Those look safe, but... - 25 players

1.3. Tier 3 - On the bubble/marginal roster spots - 13 players

2. Penalty points

2.1 If a player in your Tier 1 gets cut you get 5 points penalty.

2.2 If a player in your Tier 2 gets cut you get 2 points penalty.

2.3 If a player in your Tier 3 gets cut you get 1 point penalty.

3. Lowest score(penalty points accumulated) wins.

If they keep 7 out of that pathetic group of WR, I may give up on Ballard forever.  They have 3, at most, NFL caliber wide receivers.  And that is being very generous.  I have no clue how you are coming up with 7 being on the final roster.

Agree that this roster is trash....it really is.  Its criminal how bad Ballard has allowed our WR, LB and CB groups to be.  Those 3 are not even remotely near being NFL caliber position groups.

Mines very similar with only as few changes.  Notable Basham, I think he makes it, I don't see us carrying 5 TEs either.

We'll carry 4 RBs initially, keeping both Turbin and Michaels, at least until Turbin returns from suspension.  Then Michaels becomes expendable. I do not know if Turbin counts towards the active roster on day 1 or not so I went ahead and included him in the 53.  Also, I think Hines has played himself off the team regardless with all the fumbles but he's my one wild card to this position, I could see him and Michael swapping spots.

I kept the same color codes for ease of reading.

*=Turbin Situation as explained above

***= I believe we will trade or claim a better RT off of waivers. If that happens, I think Good or Haeg, or BOTH get cut.

You have to have bodies. That's the only reason I kept them around in my mock. Also, history has shown that some WRs take time to develop, especially with route running.  I also think this will be a group that is heavily modified once the cuts are made with at least 1-2, maybe even 3 waiver wire pick ups here.

We probably won't keep 7 and IMO the WR group is one that is most likely to get reinforcements from outside the team, but right now I guess I cannot differentiate much between them. It's very possible we end up cutting one or two of those but by the nature of the game(giving all 53 now, without knowing the waiver claims we will do) I couldn't really come to better ones to keep from other groups). They are at least young, while I couldn't make myself keep Howard for example who has been trash and is over 30. Maybe I should have kept Basham instead of one of those.... yeah... if I had to do it again I probably keep Basham over Ishmael or Kasen Williams.

I think we see 5 on the 53 man then a couple to the PS. After TY Rogers and Grant who knows what happens. Personally I like Pascal and Ishmael unless KJ makes it back then that changes things. Do we know how his knee is? I think Fountain is headed to the PS but who knows we don't see practice team meetings etc. This group is the most difficult to get a read on for me.

Disagree about the LBs, you may end up being right but there’s a decent chance the group could be very good too.  All talented, fast players.  Very little experience.  I like that group.

The CB group is adequate.  Four decent players, no stars, but may be fine if the Dline performs.  Is Breeland still available?

Agree about the WRs.  One great, one could be real good if he stays healthy (Chester).  Grant has showed nothing.  The rest are all projects and could easily be upgraded.

Not sure if someone already said this but I think you have 54 here. You put 3 RBs and have 4.
