i love all the bantering. having the patriots in town is like a revisit with good old special friends. before it was set in stone, i dreaded the notion. but now i see it's the best possible outcome. it's funny how things work out like that

enough of the sentimental (bleep) of course i am pulling for the manning(s)

yeah, kinda a funny how the rivsalry reared its old head up and one team isn't even playing. All it took was NE getting to Indy for the SB and the board went nuts:)

lol

I still say Lucas Oil won't score a point, however.

Thanks to the Colts? I think Brady is the one who changes rules...

nice try there sparky . . . your first link makes reference to a hit after the whistle where sometimes light knock downs are not allowed even they are totally harmless . . . if the person who drafted the article actually watch what happen on the play the author would see TB was trying to get out of the way and for the most part of the run back was standing still, and one point he makes his way toward the pile as the guys is being tackle and some one take a run at him and knockes him down . . .totally harmless and TB said as much the next day on his radio gig with a local radio show . . . but what some don't see is that you can't go around knocking people down . . . does anyone remember in 2008 in our game and Kyle Brady our TE pushes poor little whittle Robert Mathis who then fall down boomie whoomie ;) . . . totally and utterly harmless (and it was after Mathis took a shot at Moss), but "big strong" Mathis fell down like a ton of brickes and our 3rd and 1 at the 25ish became 3 &16 at the 41ish . . . but it was after the whistle and altho it was a total harmless push it cost us 15 yards, so it works both ways, for those who want to open their eyes ;)

As for you second link, people who actually want to remember history, the low hit prohibition, started with the Carlson Palmer hit in 2005 playoffs and was only reaffirmed after the nfl lost TB . . agains these authors have seletive memory . . .

as for keeping the QB healthy, the NFL needs that, the fans want scoring and it is the fans that pay the paychecks of the players, so the players get paid more money if the fans are kept happy and in the stands and buying stuff . . . so this yahoo players that like to get thier panties in a bunch and whin about calls should remember where their paychecks are coming from . . .

7000 yards? thats like 440 yards a game...math is your friend. <---see what i did there? Marino was an excellent QB i never said he wasnt, one if the greatest all time. But c'mon now you call me nuts and then pull that out? If im nuts the you are just as loco as me my friend.

LOL I was exagerating, for effect. With his quick release and all the flag football rules in for QB's Marino would probably win a ring or two. (he wouldnt get mauled in the playoffs like he did.)

Speak for yourself Hoodi, I want some D back in my football. I love watching a great D game.(the Giants v 49ers was as close as we have come in years.)

Jimmy, but there is "D" in football is there not? . . .. dont we still see booming hits and take downs . .. yes we do . . just becuase shots to the head and to a knee with is attached to a cleated leg (what QBs are mostly doing in the pocket as opposed to runner who rarely have a foot cleated in the ground as they are running, sure there are rare excpetions like the denver wr that was hit by harrison, where a wr/RB will have his foot in the ground right at the moment of impact, but is happen much more to standing individual such as the qb) . . . .so all the nfl is trying to do is to eliminate possible injuries, nothing wrong with take . .. today's heads shots are dangerous, and blowing out a QB's knee is not cool either . . .

whenever i argue these points, i always point to a sport of rugby which is just as rough as fooball but without pads . . .in that sport one can not hit or tackle about the shoudlers, and also you have to go down with your man if you tackle him, so you can just lunge at the guy head first into his chin . .. so if the sport of rugby can have these kind of restrictions, so can the nfl . . .

we must remember, the nfl has already outlawed many hits, the spear, facemask, closeline , etc . .. that were once part of the game, but for safety sake no one it asking for those plays to come back and nor should they really complain about hits to the head and knees of players . .. it is just gonna take so getting use to . .. . most have accepted the prohibition against the spear, facemaks and closeline as likely most starting watching football when they were in place so they accept it, and yes it is tough to accept change but change is good . . .

you can still have great D with a guy clocking someone in the brest bone or other part of the torso, you dont need to head hunt to play "D" . .. nor do you need to dive at a knee to play "D" . . .maybe players should think about wrapping up around the waiste as opposed to trying to get on a espn highlight . .

Re: Rules for defenders...

Are there a lot of "new" Colts fans out there?

Who doesn't remember this?

Of course, Dungy is partly responsible for the dramatic uptick in passing. After the 2003 AFC Championship game, in which the Patriots manhandled his Colts receivers, Dungy and team president Bill Polian were able to get the Competition Committee to issue a point of emphasis on downfield contact in the passing game for the ’04 season.

“To be honest, my goal was just to get them to enforce the rules,’’ said Dungy. “That wasn’t a rule change.

“My only point - and I think Bill’s point was, too - if it’s a rule, let’s call it. If we don’t want it to be a rule, then let’s say it’s not a rule and we all know. But don’t have it in the rule book and not enforce it. Once it did become enforced again, then obviously it helped the offenses.’’

    • As many times as Brady and company got caught cheating I don’t know how anyone can put him #1.  Especially a Colts fan. Just my two cents.
    • I’ve been dealing with sciatica issues for the last several months now. Started in late February randomly one day. In my lower back on the left side, and it goes down into my buttock and even down into my upper left leg some days. Some days it’s in my leg and not my back at all.  It’s entirely random. Some days I wake up and I feel alright. Even if I don’t do anything at all that day other than move around the house and take it easy, the next day I can wake up and I have to hunch my shoulders over and look down at my shoes to stand up straight with no pain. There have been days where I’ve been in terrible pain and had to do a ton of walking at work, and then the next day I actually feel pretty good. Some days when it’s in my leg I can use a heating pad under my left buttock and upper leg and it makes walking a little easier, and then some days I could set my backside on fire and every step is as painful as the last.    My point being, whatever it is he’s dealing with back there, if it’s anything like this, every day can be wildly different, and for no rhyme or reason. And this has been a thing with him since March. He was questionable down the stretch at the end of the season with this issue as well, which leads me to believe that it is indeed some kind of similar issue where it’s just luck of the draw how it bothers him day to day. Some days he’s not even questionable at all.    My doctor has told me to stretch and use heat or ice (ice has done nothing for any of it other than just make me cold,) and try to rest it as much as possible, but it’s looking this this may have to head to surgery. I go later this month to start figuring out those next steps. It’ll be telling to see if Haliburton participates in USA basketball this summer. Whatever his issue is isn’t bad enough to keep him off the court, but that could be time he’s going to have to devote to resting up or other treatment instead of going to France and taking part in the games to get fully healed up.    It’s almost like the shooting motion was bothering him last night. He's never been afraid to let them fly, even when he’s not hitting. But last night, even in a close late game, he wasn’t taking them. And the other guys weren’t even passing to him like they normally do. Once the ball left his hands at the top of the key it usually didn’t make its way back around to him. The only reason they wouldn’t get the ball into his hands more, especially late in a close game, would be because they knew he was dealing with something.    I absolutely believe he’s dealing with something because I’m living it myself. But carlisle needs to man up and use the hook in a situation like last night where he was inhibited instead of using him as a decoy. McConnell is good enough that we don’t need a decoy out there.
    • These are the Reception Perception charting numbers for Mitchell:     They also have him charted in the 83-85th percentile against man and against press coverage.    edit: I just realized you asked for Pierce. Sorry... don't have those numbers.    edit 2: found this on Pierce as a prospect:
    • To be fair stiechen didn't  take as many shots with Richardson  downfield early on. Just when he started to open offense  up more Richardson  got hurt.
