Draft/Free Agent Strategies

Not sure if this is thread worthy but here goes..Do the Colts or any other teams for that matter make decisions based on "next years draft" quality? Like for example, when Grigson traded away the Colts #1 pick for Richardson did this years draft potential factor into that decision or was it just cut and dry they wanted TRich? From what I`ve read or heard this year`s draft is very deep in talent, especially at WR. The Colts really don`t have needs at WR. It seems its a bad year to not have many picks more so than other years with all the potential depth/talent at skill positions. Will Grigson try and gain later round picks? Just curious to thoughts on do teams look that far ahead and base some decisions on future available talent? Thanks

Like you said, WR isn't a need. And that's the deepest position in the draft from what everyone is saying

If we just go in with the picks we have now, I'll be fine with that. I don't expect anyone we draft to come in & get serious playing time unless it's a G, CB, or FS

i feel like they definitely look at the draft class thats coming in, but one thing they cant account for is how and which underclassmen will declare for the draft. This year for example, there are like 90 some underclassmen who have declared. That's one reason why so many believe this draft is so deep...

I don't think they look at next years draft.   Like some one mentioned, they don't know what under

classmen will enter the draft.  Also, since they don't know what players they get in this years

draft and undrafted players, and who makes the team and how they play.

One more thing, they don't know what free agents will be signed before next years draft.

I don`t think this years draft was given any consideration.
TRich was an almost desperate win now move with expectations his overall ability will continue to be a VG plus.

There is a decent chance OUR guy won`t be there at 59 and Griggs will look to trade back, but not far.
Just as good a chance that he moves up a few spots to get HIS guy.

I hope we draft a big Saftey that can cover cause we already have Landry who can play in the box and blow up anything in front of him. Is there anyone in the draft in the second round that is a big Saftey? Size wise and speed? Someone who can take Tolers spot in case he is only at 98 percent ready
