Since 2009 the team the Eagles played in their home opener won the Super Bowl. The Chargers were the Eagles opponent in that game.

Yep, here is a streak that goes past 2009. You're late to the party of patterns, my friend :).

Since 2006, the team that played the NFC East and the Patriots in the regular season has won the SB (Colts, Giants, Steelers, Saints, Packers, Giants, Ravens). Out of the remaining ones, the Broncos are the only one that fit that bill.

The last 4 happened to fit both patterns (Saints, Packers, Giants, Ravens). The Broncos-Chargers game will tell us which pattern will be alive. Once the Packers went down, they were the only team that played the NFC East on the NFC side.

3 times, teams that have played the NFC East have both played in the SB - Giants vs Patriots twice and Steelers vs Cardinals. All games came down to the final possession.

Last year the Ravens beat the Colts in WC weekend, we were 11-5 coming off of a 2-14 season and the first overall pick, and with a whole new coaching staff. We did not win our division even at 11-5 though, we lost it to one of the best teams in the league. The Ravens went on to win the super bowl.

Now swap "Ravens" with Colts and "Colts" or "we" with Chiefs.

Super Bowl here we come?

I also noticed this: that the past four years whoever opened the season playing at Philadelphia went on to win the Superbowl. Going by the trend, the Chargers will win it this year. If somehow they do every team will  want to play the Eagles at the beginning of the season.

The San Diego Chargers have never won a Super Bowl in franchise history, but if the "law of the Philadelphia Eagles home opener" holds, that could change in 2013.

What's the law you ask?

Since 2009, the team that Philadelphia plays in its home opener has gone on to win theSuper Bowl.

Seriously -- and here's a refresher, just in case you need it.

The Eagles first home game in 2009 was against New Orleans. The Saints beat the Colts inSuper Bowl XLIV.

In 2010, Green Bay opened up Philadelphia's home schedule and guess what happened? ThePackers beat the Steelers in Super Bowl XLV.

The streak didn't end in 2011 because that's when the Eagles opened up their home schedule with the New York Giants, the same Giants that beat the New England Patriots in Super BowlXLVI.

In 2012, the first regular season game at Lincoln Financial Field featured the Eagles against -- you guessed it, the Ravens. Of course, the Ravens went on to beat the 49ers in Super BowlXLVII.

So will the weirdest law in football history hold up for another season?

My question, so does that mean Eagles can never win Superbowl as they can never open against themselves ( LOL )

Well go Chargers. I wouldn't mind seeing Rivers finally get a ring.

According to this guy, Rivers already has it, just playing out the string-
