Updated Colts Draft (Oct. 18)

Recommended Posts

This also includes my hopes for the offseason changes...

-Indy fires Caldwell and Coyer.

-Indy hires a creative defensive coach. Someone like Rob Ryan. (He can do more than just the 3-4)

-Indy dumps the contracts of Melvin Bullitt and Gary Brackett

Draft...

1st overall pick

-Indy trades the pick and WR Reggie Wayne(tag and trade) to Cleveland for their two 1st round picks, 2012 2nd round pick, QB Colt McCoy and S TJ Ward.

8th overall pick(via Cleveland)- WR Justin Blackmon

17th overall pick(via Cleveland)- OG David DeCastro

2nd round- NT Brandon Thompson

2nd round(via Cleveland)- TE Dwayne Allen

3rd round- OLB Sean Spence

Wow in my opinion that would be one heck of a draft so far bringing in so much talent!

Most of what you are saying is realistic. Reggie has no trade value at his age. If we got a second round pick for him I would be surprised. Reggie's best value is being re-signed with the Colts. The franchise and trade is something that you would do if Reggie wanted some ridiculous contract.

Now I think that Bullit and Brackett are as good as gone.

Cleveland is a realistic trading partner. They need to go in a different QB direction.

If we picked at 8, the value for a receiver is there. Although, I might consider a Coples, Kalil, or a QB. at that spot. If we swapped first with a team, we would probably get their first next year if Kalil or Coples is there.

Why would they give up 2 first round draft picks, a second round pick, their starting quarterback and their starting safety just to get the fabled :worthy: Andrew Luck? That would just create more holes then fixing their current problems. I don't see how trading Reggie to the Browns would help them or add any extra picks or icing on the cake and I don't see the Browns taking Reggie anyway.

@Austin: They wouldn't. Colt McCoy is a good player, but he's got nothing around him.

They currently have a top 10 defense (thus far), and a bruiser in the backfield. A different style runner, good receiving targets, maybe an improved pass rush....they can get those things with their multitude of picks, and they absolutely aren't going to dump McCoy, half of their picks, etc., for a 34 year old WR and the hopes Luck turns out.

A team very likely could give up the house for Andrew Luck because it only takes one dumb team.

For Example

In 1999 the Saints traded their ENTIRE draft AND their first and third in the following draft to move up to take Ricky Williams. (5th overall)

You never know what might happen in this league, folks
