I think the DEFENSE cost us that game. The turnovers didn't help. But we wouldn't be having to come back from down 10 points if we actually had a secondary.

14 points off of turnovers. The D is by no means stellar, but they played good enough to win. And unlike last week, they showed up in the second half.

some are going to disagree but in the GOOD dept. I'd add the Run Defense. The D held Cincy to 94 yards and 3.0 yards per carry, both below Cincy's season averages. Yeah they gave up a TD on the ground too but if Angerer hadn't been held the TD may have been stopped...at the least it wouldn't have been as easy a TD as it was. There is definitely still room for improvement but overall they played well.

in the UGLY dept I add the pass defense and defensive playcalling.

We shouldnt be surprised by the defense... i personally coming into the season was very high on the defense but after the steelers game they have been a total let down... And that has alot to do with the secondary... though the secondary did look better with lacey out they werent passing that much then... hopefully they get better there and keep lacey off the field.. stick him on special teams.

I have been saying since the Pittsburgh game that I don't understand why teams try to run on the Indy defense. They have done a fairly decent job of stopping the run the past few games. The secondary is terrible, though. If I was game planning against Indy, I would throw like crazy. If they adjust to a nickel or dime package to try to cover the pass, then I would start to run more. If they never adjust, then I would just keep exploiting the weak secondary. Aside from the occasional string of broken tackles, running the ball has for the most part been wasted downs against the Indy defense.

Other teams don't need to be able to run the ball when they can pass on us all day long!

I know. That's what I'm saying. I don't understand why they keep trying to run. I remember Dungy saying at halftime against Pittsgurgh that the Steelers needed to run the ball more in the second half. I completely disagreed with that assessment. The Indy secondary is soft. Exploit it.

Donald Brown broke out? I'd say that's a little to much... he had one good run for a TD. Without that he's under 3.8 yards per carry.

Painter is getting better and he had a good game, but I think he did better last week.

No huddle is great! We should use it more often... it even did well with Collins at QB!

I would add that the play calling on offense was generally pretty good

    • I'm very interested in Carlie's as well.  I'm just not sold on our starting LB core.
    • I also forgot to say I think Buffalo will also have a down year.
    • Yeah North.....maybe I got confused about the Pittsburgh Pirates playing in the central.  But I think before realignment there were only 3 divisions, I think.. Like the Colts and Dolphins played in the East, the Raiders and Broncos played in the West and the Steelers and Brownies played in the Central.  But yeah my mistake the Steelers currently in the North division.
    • I just wanted to give Pitt some love for his recent comments about Indy and family values. I also loved what he said about focusing on the long term financially and considering the situation youre in. He appreciates his place in the organization and that speaks volumes about him as a man. The Texans can have guys like Diggs, Im happy with Pitt. Just a top notch dude.    This is a place a lot of people love to hate on, for some reason. But he is living proof that all this rhetoric about how "nobody wants to live in Indiana" is just bonafied baloney. So many former players stick around here after retirement. There is a reason for that.    He is the exact kind of person you would think wouldnt like it here. Rich california kid whose father played in the NFL. Lives on a little farm in Indiana with his wife, who is also from California. And they both love it here.    Those huge cities are very over rated and it isnt for everyone. We just have to find people like Pitt who do and allow them to become pillars of the franchise.
    • "I think he flashed last year and can add some value to the LB room."  And I also responded directly to the LB room question. I will simplify, he has a looooow ceiling.   So what's the Problem, why argue?
