QB Curves

Ah, Jim Mora. So many forget that in that tirade he called out Manning for his performance. I forgot that he threw 23 picks that year. A season worth forgeting for sure.

Great article though. Shows how tough the position is and how guys like Brady and Manning make it look so easy. I am interested to see what QBs take the mantle after them. Rodgers is already 30 so it will be fun to see if guys like RG, Luck and Wilson and Newton can ascend to their levels.

I think the biggest thing to take, especially in the current vogue of what to look for in a QB is that the mental side can't be stressed enough. If he can make good quick decisions, a lack of athletic ability or arm can be overcome somewhat. It can take you from this:

lol. Brady had to be the most un-athletic football player of all time coming out of college. Talk about not looking the part. :D

But you are right. The ability to read the defense is paramount even with athletic ability. These guys are just too good on D to be beat by legs alone.

I thought so too, that and the package play article had some great Xs and Os stuff.

Grantland and MMQB are doing some serious football head stuff. The link from that article to the zone blitz article from last year was outstanding. MMQB has an article breaking down some of the Broncos route packages and whatnot. It's awesome.

The author has some good stuff too on his own site, for example:

Fundamental stuff but I find stuff a great help when you've not been weaned on gridiron :)

For sure an article worth reading.

I also really did forget how badly Mora called out Manning during that famous triad . I mostly thought it was his reaction to the reporter asking about playoffs and Mora's funny response . What I lost was how he went on and on to say what a horrible and disgraceful performance that was. The only reference he was making was the 5 turnovers and 4 ints. So no doubt he wasHe even mentioned that they had 4 ints returned for TD's hat year and wondered if it was an NFL record. I really can't remember a coach calling out a great QB to that extent , I'm sure it's happened I just dont remember seeing. Probably had at least something to do with his firing that year.
