Luck targeting different receivers

Flash7

Recommended Posts

After the first game, it appeared that Luck heavely targeted Reggie Wayne and Fleener. It made it a little easier for opposing defenses to gameplan for the Colts. But after this week, Luck targeted Wayne, Fleener, Allen, and speedy Avery. With Luck targeting different receivers in different situations, defenses will be left guessing, and will have to defend the whole field as Avery has demonstrated that he can take the lid off of the defense.

I am liking this!

Good topic..

Week 1 8 different targets

40% of Targets went to Wayne

62% of Targets went to Wayne/Fleener

80% of Targets went to Wayne/Fleener/Avery

Week 2 8 different targets

36% of targets went to Avery

61% of targets went to Avery/Wayne

75% of targets went to Avery/Wayne/Fleener

Still having a high% going to the same 3...

Through 2 weeks 11 different targets:

34% went to Wayne

25% went to Avery

19% went to Fleener

78% of targets went to that trio.

Thanks for the statistical breakdown. Good info!

I am really glad that Luck found Allen for a TD. It'll keep Allen motivated as he will not primarily be used just to block.

Those numbers make me think he is throwing to his primary target a lot.

2 games does not a season make. haha!

If we had a good, veteran O-Line it would help ol Andrew, instead he is getting lots of practice moving in the pocket. :neener: Allen was so close yesterday.

When we get some running game ...

Cory Redding really caught my eye, he was really good yesterday.

Every QB will have a favorite target, such as Andre Johnson, Megatron, Stve Smith, AJ Green, and Reggie Wayne. When the Vikings emphasized taking away Wayne, it didn't slow down Luck, who found Avery and several other receivers. This is a good sign. After two games, Luck has shown that he can make the proper adjustments and get everyone involved.
