Michigan's Taylor Lewan Stays in School....

15 posts in this topic

Good for the giant offensive tackle.    But bad for the 2013 draft.

He's likely a top-15 pick for the draft....    he's staying in school to get better as Jake Long did...  he'll come out after his senior year for the 2014 draft.

Almost always like it when a kid stays in school....   but I expected him to come out....

Good for the kid....

Good for him, I think many had him overrated- I thought him to be a 2nd round pick but someone to reach on him do to need (forget who I had reaching on him in my mock)

Eric Fisher's stock just skyrocketed.

Kiper already had fisher ranked above Lewan on his new BB

He was many people's #1 OT after he shut down Clowney. This is great for Michigan. Without him, our OL next year is a bunch of SO and FR. I like that we get another year to sort out which of our many top OL recruits could play LT.

Good for Michigan. I hope it ends up being good for Lewan as well. He's a great guy. I agree NCF, I like when a guy stays (Luck would be a Panther and Newton a Jag otherwise.)

He has everything Joeckel lacks.

Lewan draws way to many penalties, Matthews and Joeckel are both better

That's his only drawback and it pushes him into the second? Matthews is staying as well and he isn't better. That's just ridiculous.

Forgot Matthews is staying in college, I had Joeckel and Matthews both going before Lewan which pushed him to the early 2nd. I was thinking Arizona in the 2nd if they dont go O Line in the 1st, they need a LT, I just dont see him as a 1st round talent, as far as talent goes I have my top 5 Tackles as

1.Joeckel

2.Matthews even though he is ging back to schhol

3.Eric Fisher

4.Taylor Lewan

5.Ricky Wagner

As far as the Tackles entering the draft

1.Joeckel

2.Fisher

3.Lewan

4.Wagner(good fit for us I think in our Man blocking scheme)

5.Aboushi

2 of those wont work out I dont think in the NFL . Aboushi or Lewan or Fisher, just not sure which 2

Lewan isn't entering the draft, that is the topic youre posting in. I'd take Lewan over Matthews anyday.

I remember Clowney killed a guy...maybe I was watching the wrong game

    • Eh, There hasn't been a lot of details coming out about the injury other than a reported broken bone in his foot. This opens the door for a very raw TJ Green, but I think we can survive for a couple weeks if Geathers isn't back for week one. I'll be curious if Pagano addresses this in the presser today.   Throw TJ in the fire and see how he does. It certainly isn't going to hurt him
    • I would like to see the Raiders win the AFC West; hope you're right about that.   I just don't see the Cowboys winning the NFC East, though. They have too many issues: Greg Hardy, (unless he's already cut); Elliott being accused of assault, to name a few. Then there's the idea of Romo staying healthy, which isn't  a sure thing. I'd be surprised if they do take first place.
    • This hurts. No pun intended. Safety was a big concern going into the season even with a healthy Geathers. It sure sounds like Geathers is going to miss some considerable time. We are not in good shape with the safety position.
    • I don't agree.  If they're back ups with potential to start in the future, they were good picks.  Not every draft pick is going to start or even make the team.  The hope is that they improve the team, and quality depth definitely improves a team.   Besides, do you really want more than one rookie starter protecting the franchise?
    • Varga was a nice kid. I talked with him last year at training camp. He just seemed like a normal dude, like one of my good friends. Being in the NFL never "got to him" per say. He made the right choice after reading his statement on his concussions. I couldn't imagine looking for apartments all day and then leaving and not even remember what the apartment looked like. Scary. His health is worth more than playing football.
