Way Too Early 2025 Mock Draft

Recommended Posts

Perhaps it’s an overreaction to two games, but I feel like it’s needed. After this I won’t do a mock until our draft position is confirmed.

As we sit, run defense has degraded big team. May be a scheme thing. Secondary lacks any real depth and is worse than we think. There’s no corner that can match up in man against Nico Collins and that’s a problem. Also an underrated need is LB. Our LBs can’t cover.

Currently we have the #2 overall pick according to Tankathon but I think it will actually be around pick 13.

Round 1: Shavon Revel, CB ECU- This is this years Quinyon Mitchell. Currently Dane Brugler’s 12th ranked player. He’s 6’3, 200 lbs with legit 4.3 speed. He gets Woolen comps but is further along than he was coming out. Check out his tape and you’ll be impressed. He’s a beast in man, but can likely play in any scheme.

Round 2: Jack Sawyer, Edge OSU- I wrote about him last year and had him in a mock before he returned to school. He’s an elite edge setter with pass rush upside. Sam Hubbard is the comp

Round 3: Rod Moore, FS Michigan- Tore his ACL in March during spring practices so he hasn’t played yet. But last years tape was really good, and should be more than enough to get him drafted. Excellent cover FS with high football IQ.

Round 4: Mitchell Evans, TE Notre Dame: Returning from an ACL, Mitchell was an absolute beast last year over the middle. He is a dual threat TE who can catch and Block and has great size at 6’5” 253.

Let me know what you guys think. Again this is just an early exercise to start looking at names to keep an eye on and evolving team needs.

Revel was a top corner for sure.  My next best RCB probably wouldn’t be found until R4.  Hate to see another young man get injured with first round talent.

Thanks for the write up, but IMHO, I think we need to add a player on the defensive interior

There are some studs at DT in this draft

I think we also need to upgrade our LBs, they are both getting exposed this year

Am hoping either RDE Umanmielen or Tyler Baron is available on Day 1 but NT Walter Nolan is tempting option.

Day 2 MLB Boettcher or WLB Mondon Jr/Oliver

R3 MLB Bruener or WLB Bissainthe if he declares.  Also may look at a QB like KJ Jefferson.  RB Woody Marks or RDE Bogle are needs.

R4 NT Slackman

R5 RDE Juncaj, NCBs Hancock, Castro or Knowles II. LDT Burch. LDEs Joyner, Batty, Diggs.

R6 RT Crenshaw-Dickson

R7 NCBs Ja’had Carter or Zion Childress

End of season am hoping we can resign C Kelly and both TEs Granson and MAC.  Granson does remind me of TE Gadsden II from Syracuse R2 projecting. Smith at RT can be moved free up cap space.

Outside of drafting CBs Revel or T. Hunter, LCB A’marion McCoy, RCBs Marshall Jr or Muhammad am not too inpressed with this draft class.  Hopefully we add a proven player(s) in FA.

Agree. But it also depends on who our DC is next year. I would like these 2

Pick 1 - Walter Nolen, DT, Ole Miss, 6'3", 305 lbs

Pick 2 - Jahdae Barron - Safety / Nickel CB, Texas, 5'11", 200 lbs

If Walter Nolen's injury issues creep up, we could see a swap of pick positions.

Man that’s unfortunate. I loved him. Thought he was a top 3 CB in the draft.

Im not opposed to drafting Deone Walker tbh. He can rotate and play sparingly until Buckner’s contract is up. He reminds me of Dexter Lawrence.

I’m willing to bet that Ballard has a change of strategy at CB this year.  He hasn’t had a ton of luck drafting them, but he finds FA gems.  My official guess is that he opens the coffers for one of his bigger FA acquisitions and brings in someone like Kristian Fulton to start opposite Womack, then he doesn’t draft one.

Just did this mock:

11. Shavon Revel, CB East Carolina

43. Ashton Jeanty, RB Boise State

75. J.T. Tuimoloau, EDGE Ohio State

112. Lander Barton, LB Utah

149. Oscar Delp, TE Georgia

187. Joey Slackman, DT Florida

226. Kobe Savage, S Oregon

Honestly I’m still on the Shavon Revel train. I don’t care too much about he ACL tear. He may be the 2nd best CB in the draft depending on what position you think Travis Hunter will play in the NFL.

20. Ashton Jeanty, RB Boise State

54. Landon Jackson, EDGE Arkansas

86. Maxwell Hairston, CB Kentucky

122. Danny Stutsman, LB Oklahoma

157. Oscar Delp, TE Georgia

195. Francisco Mauigoa, LB Miami (FL)

199. Kolbey Taylor, CB Vanderbilt

237. Myles Hinton, OT Michigan

I like the first 4 rounds, Jeanty w/ JT would be difficult to defend.

Is Jeanty a JT replacement? Spending a 1st on a RB to play behind JT would be odd.

yeah that doesnt make sense. why draft him when he would barely play. We should be drafting players who will impact now and later, not just looking in the future impacts. We need to win now while we have the players and rookie contract qb now.
