Please Cut Ehlinger!

I am not really concerned about what they do with the third QB spot because if they ever see the field it’s either in meaningless mop up time or the Colts have much bigger problems.

Why do you think they will be so easy to find?

Oh.   Sorry Craig.  I phrased poorly.

I was being sarcastic and trying to imply the poster would quickly realize just how few there have been.   Turns out I was being too smart for my own good.  :peek:

Dulin hasn't been injured at any point this camp. What I have found strange is to my recollection I have not seen him catch or be thrown a single pass the entire preseason. Nor have I seen him on any special teams activity. I have seen Anthony Gould though.

Dulin has been injured with hamstring issues and sat out 2 weeks, just came back and had 1 catch on 4 targets for 11 yards vs Bengals.

I put him on the PS. I just don't put much value in a 6th WR who mostly won't be part of the 46 game day roster. PS makes more sense

I think he should, but realistically, he probably won't. I haven't paid any attention to his work on special teams, though.

I wonder what the value of the Gunner position is today with the new kickoff rule? Will those players have less value to the team and if not good enough to be backend depth  they get cut?

Gunners always made their biggest impacts on punts and those rules haven’t changed.

You still have punt returns but it’s a fair question.

Thanks would you know if the same players are gunners on both special teams units

Can be depends on the player so I think there would be an impact but you still need gunners to cover punts so I don’t think teams are just going to dump gunners.

Tomi is Adetomiwa and Stayed is Stuard, right? Are you making up your own nicknames?

Tomi is the easy way to say his name. Stayed was a autocorrection

    • They are due for it. But the Ravens and Texans will also be in play.   It will be those Top 4 dogs in play for the SB from the AFC when it is all said and done - Chiefs, Bills, Ravens, Texans
    • That's because those are the only years I looked at to make the list.  I'm sure I'd find plenty of Patriot trades and FA pickups in the late 90s, too.   The reason I looked only at their dynasty years is because I was responding to the suggestion that dynasties have to be built from within.  And I just don't think that's the case.   In fact, I'd go farther to say there's no such thing as an NFL team that's been built entirely through the draft and UFDAs.  It may be the case that dynasties like the Brady-era Pats were less engaged in free agency and trades than other teams.  But to say that they stayed away from FA and trades just isn't correct.   That said, I do agree that it all starts with the franchise QB.  And I'd also agree that few franchise QBs have been acquired from elsewhere (at least for their prime).  There are some notable exceptions (Steve Young, Drew Brees, and Warren Moon come to mind).  But they're mostly drafted.

    • Awuzie was another one. What I wanted to see was them save money on slot CB and bring in a proven boundary CB.   I know a lot of people say that young/unproven players have to play to develop, but there's no rule that young/unproven players have to start by default. They are on cheap, rookie deals, which gives a team a lot of flexibility.   Remember when Ballard went the young/unproven route with the DL back in 2021? Well, since then, he has brought in DL FAs and (repeatedly) retained his own proven vets. Even a guy like Latu, who had a ton of hype, only played 39% of the snaps (even with Ebukam being on IR).   I know Ballard is a trenches guy, so he is going to invest more in the DL. But the approach to each position group is wildly different. And it's not just a move like the Sneed trade...there's a lot of space between that and filling out the CB room with young/unproven players (many of which are late-round draft picks and UDFAs).    And with their only real cap investment (and proven CB) in the secondary is a 29 year-old slot CB, they were taking a pretty big risk without much of a contingency plan.
