Braves receive bad news. Strider out for the season. @Yoshinatorthoughts?

Oh I'm pretty mad. Glad we got Sale obviously. I'm guessing we are going to trade for Paul Blackburn of the A's. There were rumors that they wanted Owen Murphy from us in a 1 for 1 swap.

Yeah, Steele got injured on opening day - hamstring. It sucks but at least I know he will be back. He is listed out for a month! I feel your pain in a way. Losing Strider sucks.

Yeah, I saw that. Have Justin Steele in two $10 bestballs. Been a tough year for me so far. Lucky I've won 3 times in the last month at the casino, cause I'm going to probably lose $50 in bestball with the rate I'm getting hit with injuries in baseball. Also not fun when Strider is one of them. I'd be even more upset if the Braves hadn't won a WS in 2021 recently.

Yeah, since the Cubs won in 2016, I take most things in stride now. We have our Ring in my lifetime finally! We got that nasty jinx over with and that loveable loser tag thrown away. Now we finally gained respect from fans and have good seasons since then which helps. Staying relevant helps and the Cubs have since 2016 with the exception of 2021 and 2022 when they dismantled the team. Last season we should have made the playoffs, that stings but we were in it until the final weekend.

I told my best friend that if the Cubs sign Bellinger, then I have them winning the NL Central. Still believe that. Could be a tough division, but i like your team. Found myself drafting a lot of Cubs stacks in bestballs this year.

I'm definitely a lot calmer on sports teams now as well. Except for maybe the Colts. Seeing Richardson and Strider now go down for the year back-to-back is upsetting, but I've won a few championships recently, so I'm not as mad as i would be otherwise. The Colts are the team I root for that frustrates me more than anything because of the lack of aggressiveness combined with injuries that always seem to keep us from competing. Just want a fair opportunity to win and make the playoffs.

Once we signed Bellinger, I said we got the division. It is a matter of time when we start to pull away from everyone in the Central, I would say around late July. Steele needs get healthy obviously. I do have the Reds making the playoffs as a wildcard, I like their roster. Brewers and Pirates will start to come back to earth shortly. Cards, I never underestimate but they have had problems since last season.

Regarding the Colts, after we won in 2006, I have mellowed a lot, that was big but the competitiveness in me has ticked me off lately with them not even being able to win the division since 2014. You even have the Nuggets, which by the way I think they repeat. Best combo in the league is Joker/Murray. I think my Pacers can reach the East Finals if they stay in that 6th spot.

Yeah, Nuggets were a lot of fun to watch last year. Jokic is incredible. Nice to get Murray back after that ACL tear. This year he is 100% and the team is doing well. Pacers are a fun team to watch as well. High octane offense but somewhat of a poor defense. That have a chance to make some noise in the playoffs. Siakam was a nice get for you.

Siakam trade made us a team that the other good teams now have to take us serious, because it gave us a Big3 = Haliburton, Turner, and him. T.J. McConnell is playing out his mind too. It is too bad Brown didn't work out, I liked him, and he was important to the Nuggets run last year. I still hated that we traded Buddy Hield because he could shoot the 3 at a high %.

Reds manager David Bell held a meeting apparently after we lost to the Brewers. If we want any chance of competing for the division, it’s obvious who we have to finally slay. Against all odds, it’s the Brewers yet again who are the team to beat in the division so far.

3. Cubs 8-6 (better Division record tie breaker over Reds)

4. Reds 8-6

5. Cards 7-8

Cubs are better than the Brewers this season. It will play out in time.

I agree Cubs are better than them. I think Reds could have a bit more talent but are still very young and dealing with injuries. Pirates are going to hang around tough all season I think, which is awesome for those fans.

NL Central Standings as of April 14th:

1. Brewers 10-4 over Pirates by % points.

2. Pirates 11-5

3. Cubs 9-6 (1.5 back)

4. Reds 9-6 (1.5 back)

5. Cards 7-9 (4 back)

Brewers lost today. CUBS WON. Cubs are 0-0 in the division; Reds are 1-2 in the division, so the Cubs have the tiebreaker because the Reds have a losing record in the division so far.

Brewers' fans = the worst fans in the league. Too bad you had your little window from 2018-2023 to get that Ring, you whiney babies! Couldn't do it. Cubs = 2016 World Champs and we are about to run away with the Division here in 2024. Pirates are coming back down to earth, Reds are good but not better than the Cubs, and the Cards are average.

NL Central Standings as of April 23rd:

1. Brewers 14-8

2. Cubs 14-9

3. Reds 13-10

4. Pirates 13-11

5. Cards 10-14

This is probably the strongest I've seen the Central division in my lifetime. I feel like any of these teams could beat any other team in the country on a good night.

Even the Cards can be sneaky good, I agree. I think the Cubs should win the division, not saying that because I am Cubs fan, but they are just better on paper than the other 4 teams. Reds should finish 2nd in a close race with the Brewers. Pirates always start strong but fall off, Cards just scare me because they are the Cards haha .They are like the Lakers over history, a winning franchise.

Cards are exactly that. I never, ever count them out. All they need is one good hot streak in the summer and they're right back into the mix. Always seems to happen in July!

Cards usually play their best ball in August too. If they are around .500 going into August, they could be a nuisance.

All NL Central games are complete for today. Standings as of April 25th

1, Brewers 16-8

2. Cubs 16-9 (.5)

3. Reds 14-11 (2.5)

4. Pirates 13-13 (4)

5. Cards 11-14 (5.5)

@RollerColt, this is a damn good division so far. Even the Cards are only 3 games below .500, they are average at worse.

Another win, Imagana has looked good so far. I actually got to go to the Home Opener and see his debut, cold day but great win. It has been such an interesting year for them so far, just so many injuries already, we gotta get healthy, that would be great. Also harder schedule part, so the fact we are 17-9 now is great

Cubs 6 Brewers 5. Big win. Cubs have had a lot of injuries early. Steele has been out since opening day with a Hamstring and Bellinger for a week now with a fractured Rib. Those 2 players are arguably our best 2 players (Steele is our ACE Pitcher), and we still are only 1 game out of 1st in the NL Central.

1. Brewers 20-12

2. Cubs 20-14 (1 game back)

-Rubber match tomorrow, with a win over the Brewers tomorrow we will be tied for 1st place. Not sure what is going on with Adbert, he is struggling badly as well, despite it all, we are still 20-14. Wisdom had a titanic Homerun today, Hoerner had 2 Homeruns today, and Morel is on fire. The thing I love about this Cubs team is, they have a lot of depth. Neris has been good as a closer so far thankfully.

    • A loss doesn't necessarily end the hopes of the season. We usually start out slow anyway....so maybe a loss or two more than usual at the halfway mark.   The most important part of the season isn't going to be the Won/Lost record, but how AR does and shows if he's the Franchise QB going forward or not.  He needs to stay healthy with coaching staff putting him in position to grow and succeed AND not let him down by Steinchen and lack of personal and questionable playcalling.
    • Am hoping either RDE Umanmielen or Tyler Baron is available on Day 1 but NT Walter Nolan is tempting option.    Day 2 MLB Boettcher or WLB Mondon Jr/Oliver    R3 MLB Bruener or WLB Bissainthe if he declares.  Also may look at a QB like KJ Jefferson.  RB Woody Marks or RDE Bogle are needs.   R4 NT Slackman   R5 RDE Juncaj, NCBs Hancock, Castro or Knowles II. LDT Burch. LDEs Joyner, Batty, Diggs.   R6 RT Crenshaw-Dickson R7 NCBs Ja’had Carter or Zion Childress   End of season am hoping we can resign C Kelly and both TEs Granson and MAC.  Granson does remind me of TE Gadsden II from Syracuse R2 projecting. Smith at RT can be moved free up cap space.     Outside of drafting CBs Revel or T. Hunter, LCB A’marion McCoy, RCBs Marshall Jr or Muhammad am not too inpressed with this draft class.  Hopefully we add a proven player(s) in FA.
    • It’s the RPO game plan. However, I’ve said it for years - Taylor does much better running out of the single back formation.   Does anybody have a way to pull up statistics on this? Taylor’s YPC shotgun vs singleback?
    • Revel was a top corner for sure.  My next best RCB probably wouldn’t be found until R4.  Hate to see another young man get injured with first round talent.
    • A lot of us do but.....  The colts had like 20 candidates for the head coaching vacancy and Harbaugh wasn't one of them..
