Slight correction:  I believe Fries is the 6th highest rated guard of week 2.   But I don’t believe he’s the 6th highest rated guard overall thru the first two weeks.   Not after his first week where Fries was ranked 42nd overall.

He was #1 or #2 rated guard this week, with a 90+ PFF grade.

Do if I understand you correctly, his score of 74 is his score thru two weeks and comes after a second week score of 90+ ??

Ok….   Sorry, that wasn’t clear to me.  Thnx

Yeah, that's been my take on the non premium grades.

They are season long grades that go up and down throughout the year based on performance, obviously.

Weekly numbers and other in-depth options are locked for premium viewing. Thought about getting it, still debating, but probably won't. $120/yr? Lol.

And yeah, so Ryan Kelly is grading out as the #1 Center in the league for the season right now. I know we weren't talking about him, but wanted to give him an extra shout for coming back strong.

G - Brady Christensen CAR - 51.4 / 57.5

G - Chandler Zavala  CAR - 23.0 / 52.7

T - Taylor Moton CAR - 71.3 / 66.6

T - Ikem Ekwonu CAR - 68.5 / 76.3

Hmmm.  It's early but I'm seeing a trend here.  Franks' OL schemes at Carolina shows a decline in OL performance.  Especially the guards.

Coverage is a definite sore spot. They're rangy and active, Leonard in particular has great length, but none of them are great in coverage.

Same thing kind of applies to the entire back end. Lots of traits from these guys, they compete, and they're even around the ball a lot more than I expected. Much better than early last season in coverage, IMO. Some tough stretches in the second half yesterday... But straight up covering your man, we don't really have anyone who excels at that.

Okereke was our best coverage backer.

How do you have an overall grade higher than the individual performance grades?

same for downs

Richardson also has a Fumble score of 73.6 which figured in. I just thought it was irrelevant considering he didn’t fumble.

Downs has a drop score as well but, bo drops, so… haha

Thanks for posting.

It is good to see progress from week 1 to week 2.

That is my personal hope for the remainder of the year - weekly progress and unit stability.

Hopefully we do stay healthy and block well week after week.

We had a variety of blocking combinations that our guys Could Do. Steichen and his coaches are do a few atta boys.

I need someone to explain this to me.

I can't. It doesn't really make sense in my opinion. There is a grade for Fumbles and Drops. 60.0 is the baseline - the average, but for whatever reason it can go higher? I don't know if it's because a defender had a play on the ball but Richardson/Downs avoided? It's a weird grade in my opinion.

EDIT:

The abreviation for the grade is FUM. The explanation is "PFF Grade for HandsFumble". Doesn't really help me though..

Downs actually had a grade for both FUM and Drops. Explanation for Drops is "PFF Grade for HandsDrop".

Ok, so I looked up the Drops on pff.com hoping to find and explanation:

Quote

Drop Rate

Drop rate is another individualized statistic for receivers (or any pass-catcher for that matter) as it takes into account the amount of catchable targets thrown a receiver's way against the amount of dropped passes on those catchable targets. This isolates the amount of actual passes that could be caught by a receiver, not the amount of total targets, and produces a better mark of how ‘sure' a receiver's hands are a given game, season, career.

Drops seems to be a meassure of how good a receivers hands were based on number of catches among catchable throws rather than targets.

Couldn't find anything on the FUM grade, but seeing as the explanation for it is "PFF Grade for HandsFumble" I'd guess it's a meassure of how good a runners hands were - how well they protected the ball during contact.
