There were four QBs drafted in the seventh round of the 2013 NFL draft.  If anyone can name one of them, without looking it up, I'd be surprised.

You may see mediocrity, but I see players who made a decent shot at starting in one of the most highly scrutinized position in sports.  If you are trying to use this as an argument against drafting QBs in the first round, I am not convinced.

I'm not sure if it was 2013, but i'm pretty sure Zack Dysert was a seventh rounder. I could be wrong though.

Goes to show just how hard it is to find a quality starting QB.

Since 2015 though there's been a ton of hits. Goff and Wentz are stars. Winston and Mariota are comfortably secured into a starter's role. Watson is an up and coming stud, whilst the KC and CHI jobs are Mahomes and Trubisky's respectively. The only real miss was Paxton Lynch.

I'd say the moral if the first round story for quarterbacks is this......

Taking one in the first round and you gave roughly a 50-50 chance at drafting a good one.

Pretty sobering when you think about it.

I think the moral of the story is don't reach for quarterbacks.  A lot of those guys had no business being drafted that high. Jake Locker, EJ Manual, Christian Ponder, DeShone Kizer, etc, etc..

Yes...    there were some reaches....

Speaking of which...    Kizer shouldn't be on your list here...   he went in the 2nd round,  not the first...

But your point is noted...

Yeah...Don't reach for any player, including Guards and defensive ends..

How about other positions, like DE (Walt Patulski), linebacker (Tom Cousineau), running back (Trent Richardson), etc, etc.  Almost all of today's best NFL QBs are on your list.  Good luck drafting your man in round 6 because Brady was a hit.

20 are currently starters.  1 just retired in Carson Palmer.  So out of this list 21 were pretty good and are still expected to be pretty good.  I would say this list shows some bad QB's that teams reached on, but also shows more than half the leagues starting QB currently.  And really any position is going to show you similar results.
