Track Guy's Post Combine Off Season Mock

Recommended Posts

Cuts:

  • Arthur Jones

Re-Sigings:

  • Jack Doyle 24 mil / 4 yrs
  • Darryl Morris 3.5 mil / 2 yrs
  • Zach Kerr RFA 1.8 mil / 1 yr
  • Erik Swoope ERFA .6 mil / 1 yr

Extensions:

  • Donte Moncrief 30 mil / 4 yrs - Our second best WR has good chemistry with Luck. I'd definitely like to keep him around as long as he's not thinking he's going to get franchise type money.
  • Jack Mewhort 30 mil / 4 yrs - Will help solidify the interior of our O-line for many years. Only thing to watch out for is his knee.

Free Agents Signings:

  • Bennie Logan, NT (Eagles) 40 mil / 5 yrs - I have to admit, I didn't even consider this possibility until I saw it in Superman's mock. But it's a good fit. Logan can play NT or DT and would be an upgrade over what we have currently inside.

  • T.J. Lang, G (Packers) 34 mil / 4 yrs - Lang is an exceptional pass blocker and pretty good run blocker too. Going on 30, he probably has 3 or 4 strong years left if he can stay healthy. He would instantly upgrade our O-line, no question.

  • John Simon, Edge (Texans) 12 mil / 3 yrs - Probably an upgrade over Walden moving forward, who I've let walk. Walden was okay last year, but his sack total was higher than his play level. Simon is younger and more of an ascending guy, who could be had for a similar price.

Draft:

R1 - Haason Reddick, LB, Temple - I think he could be a really nice weapon on defense. He'd play the WIL position, but he offers more athleticism and pass rushing ability than most can. Had a really nice showing at both the Senior Bowl and at the combine.

R2 - Jordan Willis, Edge, Kansas St. - Here's a guy who really popped at the combine. He's powerful, fast, and has prototypical size for a 3-4 OLB. He was prolific in 2016 on the field, much improved over 2015.

R3 - Ahkello Witherspoon, CB, Colorado - This cornerback class is loaded, and theres almost a guarantee of someone good being on the board at our 3rd round pick. Maybe it will be Witherspoon. He's got good length, explosiveness, and good footwork.

R4 - Marcus Maye, S, Florida - An athletic safety who has been hurt with a broken arm and missed much of the draft process.

R4 - Aaron Jones, RB, UTEP - A running back who proved that he is as explosive as anyone in this loaded class (except for Alvin Kamara, my draft crush who it pains me to leave out of this mock) at the combine. He was also dominant on the field for UTEP, so not just a workout warrior.

R5 - Ejuan Price, Edge, Pittsburgh - An undersized edge rusher who would only really work in the 3-4. Put up big numbers on the field this past season at Pitt. Could be a nice add as a situational rusher.

R6 - Isaac Rochell, DL, Notre Dame - A 5 tech prospect who in time has a chance to become a decent player at the next level. A good depth for us piece anyway.

(Most Of The) Projected Line-up:

Offense

QB: A. Luck, S. Tolzein

RB: F. Gore, A. Jones

WR: T. Hilton, D. Moncrief, P. Dorsett, C. Rogers, Bray

TE: D. Allen, J. Doyle, E. Swoope

OL: A. Castonzo, J. Mewhort, R. Kelly, T. Lang, L. Clark, J. Haeg, D. Good, J. Reitz, A. Blythe

Defense

DL: B. Logan, H. Anderson, K. Langford, H. Ridgeway, T. McGill, Z. Kerr, I. Rochell

Edge: J. Willis, J. Simon, A. Ayers, C. Maggit, E. Price

ILB: H. Reddick, E. Jackson, A. Morrison

S: C. Geathers, T. Green, M. Maye, M. Farely

CB: V. Davis, P. Robinson, A. Witherspoon, D. Morris, R. Melvin

Special Teams

K: A. Vinatieri

LS: M. Overton

I love the draft!! Reddick is my draft crush. I haven't watched a ton of film on Willis yet, but I've heard pretty good things and he had a great showing at the combine. Witherspoon could be awesome if he started playing more physical against the run. Aaron Jones has flown under the radar with this RB class, but I somehow happened to stumble upon him while going down a random Twitter wormhole. He's an explosive runner with a mean stiff-arm for a guy his size. I'm not sure about him as an every down runner, but he'll be a mean change of pace guy at the very least. Price wouldn't be bad to snag late. He's undersized, but he's not a bad pass rusher.

Who do you have punting?

I don't think Ballard will be extending Moncrief or Mewhort soon...and I don't blame him.

With Allen still under contract, that would be a lot of money tied up in a decent (but not great) group of pass catchers.

As for Mewhort, I would rather give that money to one of the FA OGs available this offseason.

I love the first four draft picks. Also, Price is a good pick late. Hoping we could get a bit bigger name in free agency, but I wouldn't be mad. I'll have to look into the other draft picks, but this is one of my favorites thus far on the forum. Great work!

I didn't bother predicting, because I'm not sure if Ballard will go for a rookie or a vet. I guess maybe the best UDFA we can get? There's a kid from Ohio St. who's pretty good, I don't know much about punters in college.
