I felt he maximized strengths, whatever few we had better than Monachino. We wanted a better DC but....

I agree, he's still not very good though.

He's not a great DC but Manusky was a scapegoat.  We never had a good pass rush under this coaching staff except one year that Mathis lead the league in sacks.

 

That also happens to be the same year that our defense was ranked 11th in yardage.  

 

Grigson never drafted a good pass rusher for our defense.  Thus Manusky was forced to work with one arm tied behind his back.  He almost had to blitz on every single play if he didn't want the opposing QB to get to spend 12 seconds in the pocket.  

 

We hired a new guy and our defense isn't any better.  Why is that. . . Same reason, no pass rush.  We don't have anyone who can actually take on a block and still create pressure.

I like him better than Monachino.  He was more aggressive in his blitzes.  I don't think he's a great DC; I think he's good, but I still think he's better than Monachino
