Bleacher reports best and worst top 3 Colts picks

Recommended Posts

BR is spot on for what I'm personally calling for. I posted a few days ago I thought that our choice would be determined on what the Steelers do and BR is backing me up.. sort of

Marcus Peters at 29 (based on Steelers taking Collins or Johnson from Wake)

Preston Smith round 2

Abdullah Round 3

Best case scenarios

I would be happy with first 2, not sure about Abdullah as I don't know much about him

I would peg in Smith from Fresno in round 3 and I would be extremely overjoyed

Love the Round 1 position, dislike the rest.  Peters would not be on my draft board due to his interpersonal/character concerns.  I wouldn't take those kind of risks in Round 1 unless there was a clear athletic upgrade over all other possibilities, but in this case Jalen Collins or Kevin Johnson or three or four OTs that could drop would be better alternatives...

We'll see what happens, but I'm paying closer attention to who the Colts are actually working out and the amount of times they've seen the prospect.  Things can change, but to me if one of those prospects they've paid a fair amount of attention to is available at 29 that is who I think they will pick from.  Haven't seen them pay much attention to Peters, but it doesn't mean they haven't or won't.  I think if Darby is available at #29 and his BPA on the Colts board that is who they will take based on the attention they've paid so far.  Just my take but I know it's not 100 percent.

I think Grigson beats to his own drum and more than likely will go with players none of us will agree on. It will be a welcome change in debate other than the boring stuff that has been in here the last few weeks. I really don't pay much attention to mock drafts because the only one that matters is in the opinion of those who are picking for real.

Thanks a lot captain obvious.

I don't get this at all. I mean how is this a good scenario? Our three major needs are D-Line, Safety, and O-Line. This wouldn't fix any of those holes.

That's what you think the needs are...not everyone agrees.  I personally believe that CB is one of the top three needs, and DL is not...

"Grigson is going to pick who he wants to"

Thanks for dropping that bombshell on us.

So you choose to omit my full comment to what? My comment was made in the context of the thread. But you seem to have a problem with what I said so that's on you. I really don't care one way or another.  If you have a problem with my comments it's easy, don't reply. It was a general comment that was not directed to you but you seem to have to chime in with a sarcastic comment. You think that makes you funny? You think that makes you smarter? IMO all it does is make you seem immature and childish.

    • Oh contrare, I’d say it says more about Shane Steichen’s skill set as a coach.
    • Excerpt from an article at NFL.com …     ”… One player the Colts can lean on while Richardson gets his sea legs: running back Jonathan Taylor. After last year's hold-in and injury issues, the star running back looks back to his old self. JT bursts through the line like a Mustang on fire, leaving linebackers in his wake. On Sunday, Taylor totaled 12 carries for 103 yards and +55 rushing yards over expected, his most RYOE in a game since Week 15 of 2021. He also forced five missed tackles across 14 touches.    Shane Steichen's decision to bench the star back during the entire fourth quarter because the Colts were in pass mode belies credibility. Even if Taylor isn't a prolific pass catcher out of the backfield, sitting your best offensive weapon for an entire quarter is folly -- hopefully one Steichen doesn't repeat. If defenses are going to sit back to slow Richardson's deep attack, Taylor should gobble up chunk gains.    At this point, Taylor is the most consistent thing going for Indy. The 25-year-old back owns a game-changing gear and can shoulder a massive load. His presence and production should help settle Richardson down during the roller-coaster dips. Taylor hasn't looked fully healthy in a couple of years. He did this past Sunday. The Colts need to ride that stallion.”     The above referenced article kind of echoes my feelings on the matter.
    • Exactly I am confused with that comment by Shane unless that one drop deserved him to be benched. Again coaches know what's the best.
    • I'm not sure why the team thinks JT can't be effective in the passing game.
