Changing playoff format and adding teams

They need to get rid of divisions as well. Play every team in the conference once and then 1 team from the other conference that placed in the same ranking. There's your 16 games, no more complaining about easy divisions. Tie breakers easier. Take the top 7 teams from each conference.

Eventually this will happen.

I highly doubt that will ever happen

LOL at make tie breakers easier. The whole point of divisions and having teams play twice is so you are on the edge of your seat for multiple weeks figuring out the math of who gets in the playoffs. They want 8-8 across the board so everyone thinks they have a chance and keeps watching

That means the Colts can't skate by on easy schedules anymore of playing the Jaguars, Titans and Texans.  They'd have to go into NE, Pitt, Denver, SD, Balt, KC.  Yeah and then play the Cowboys, Packers, Seahawks.  Yeah, good idea.  lol  NOT!

If there were no divisions in the NFL the Colts wouldn't be in the playoffs this season or last or the year before.

AFC East is better than the AFC South and will be for many years to come.  Bills, Dolphins and Jets have the best defensive fronts in the NFL.  If they all had good QB's the AFC East would be the best division in the NFL.

The afc east is still among the weakest divisions. If my aunt had different parts she would be my uncle

Actually it's not weak.  In fact when teams just lack a QB from making a super bowl run those teams are strong.  Basically the Bills, Dolphins and Jets are SB contenders with a great QB.  A great QB wouldn't have gotten the Jags or Titans into the playoffs.

Everyone plays the same teams so it makes the like opponents even across the board.

What? No. You play every team in the afc. Everyone plays the same people. Fair across the board. Then you play ONE team from the other conference who ranked in the same position as you did in the afc. So the pats would play Seattle and Denver would face GB, so on and so on. You don't have to go into all those places at the same time just like we do now. You obviously didn't understand my post at all.

And at 11-5 they would be one of the top 6 teams in the afc. And top 7 when we move into that. It's about being equal.

Just make it so that each division winner has to finish the season above .500 in order to get an automatic bid. If they don't, the team(s) with the best record of the remaining wildcard contenders gets their spot(s) in the playoffs

Problem solved, NFL. Is it really that difficult?

The NFL isn't changing anything in it's playoff format.  There's nothing wrong.  Once a while a division is weak.  It's rare when a below .500 team gets home field in the playoffs.  There is no crisis.

You can't predict when a division will be weak or strong from year to year so you don't chance the playoff format based on a rarity.  For all we know the NFC South could be the strongest division next season.

I'll get that Checkup, B on the T..but its mostly about TV....what do you have against Mississippi..? They have TV there, right? We all heard talk about London and San Antonio this year.Mississippi wouldn't be at the top of the list but that's a legendary college market ...Its football country, as far as I know.Where the stadium sits and whether its full every week is going to matter less and less as time goes by..The NFL is a TV show..and every state has all four major free networks and ESPN

Small, poor, high unemployment and too hungover from tailgating on sat to attend nfl games.
