One of my coworkers had it on his arm from a dog bite/crush.  Nasty stuff.

I've known people who've had this (other track runners). But they all had the chronic condition, so I never really knew about the acute variety (which of course is more of an emergency).

I knew of compartment syndrome from an episode of House, MD, but that's because a woman was trapped under rubble and her leg was crushed. I didn't know it could basically develop out of nowhere, for no reason. Moore claims he didn't suffer any leg injury.
