Should we target a receiver with Reggie being hurt and aging?

Josh Gordon would be a great, realistic candidate. If Grigson wants to make another splash he could open up the bank and make a move for Justin Blackmon. To be completely honest, he's insane but also enough of a genius that it wouldn't surprise me if he got either or both (my personal dream is both). If I had to choose one then I would choose Blackmon but Gordon is more realistic.

Lol if we got both, it just wouldn't be fair for the other teams.

In that case we'd also not have one draft, but oddly I'm okay with that if it would mean 2 great young WR's to grow with Luck.

But a pipedream, nonetheless

I am so happy you arent the Colts GM. Really? The entire draft??

A 2nd, 3rd, 5th and 6th is all they have right? I might be forgetting a low pick or two but their picks will be towards the end of each round. You wouldn't trade those picks for Josh Gordon and Justin Blackmon? I would and so would most GMs.

Are we talking about Justin Blackmon and Josh Gordon? Those are two clear cut difference makers if put in the right situation. Andrew Luck was/is worth more than just one draft. We also don't have a 1st so that's removed from this particular equation. Justin Blackmon was just the 5th overall pick last year. Josh Gordon is a tall, explosive receiver and a high second round pick last year in the supplemental draft. There is no way to get more bang for your buck with what we have than trading for those two.

A 2nd, 3rd, 5th and 6th round pick might be enough to get Gordon (strong emphasis on "Might") but you're not getting Blackmon without a 1st round pick in the equation (likely the same with Gordon).  NO WAY you get both of them with only those picks.  ;)

I agree, they would probably need to give those teams additional incentive to trade those respective players. Fans always expect a lot when popular receivers get mentioned in trade rumors. Gordon could be had for a 2nd and 5th I would bet. Blackmon would be more difficult; perhaps their  3rd, 6th, and a conditional 2nd or 3rd.

Never happening but if we had both man that would be amazing those 2 with TY and Allen and T Rich and LUCK then we could sign our FA we need and get Alex Mack and brandon spikes :D just a dream of course haha

I agree. That could be a completely dominant offense capable of routinely making the playoffs and potentially shattering records.

I honestly think they need to have Reggie one on one mentor Da'Rick Rogers for awhile to set him straight, show him what is within' his grasp if he just cleans up.

Da'Rick Rogers has as much potential as Josh Gordon in my opinion, and even better...he's already on the team. What's the point of stashing young talent like that if you don't want to give him a shot and mold him into a new age star WR?!

sure lets trade away our entire draft for a 22 year old WR

I sometimes question the amount of intelligence on this board

I dont care how good Gordon is

He's not a franchise player like Andrew Luck

Therefore shouldnt take an entire draft to get him

a 2 alone is bad enough to get him let alone the entire draft

2 would probably be the max someone would trade for him, because he's one test away from getting suspended. He may have talent, but we shouldn't waste our draft picks.

Josh Gordon is already a borderline top 10 receiver at the age of 22. Josh Gordon is a potential building block for any franchise that happens to have his services. Virtually the only knock on him is that he has tested positive on the league's policy and in college. It isn't a question of talent. Gordon has all the talent in the world as a receiver. If he was to be traded, it would likely be for a 2nd and maybe a little more but there is statistically very little significance behind late round picks.

You dont build a franchise with a WR. You build it with a LT/QB.

Browns (Joe Thomas), Dolphins (when they had Jake Long), Texans (Duane Brown) all had/have some of the best LTs in the league and still the losses piled up. Quarterback is definitely the most important position but they have to have someone to throw to. You cant let you QB become increasingly frustrated by a lack of weapons. Give him a young playmaker to grow with. Also I never said to build the franchise with a WR. Clearly the franchise is being rebuilt with balanced football but Luck is the biggest building block. That doesn't mean you cant add supporting pieces.

This will NEVER happen, but I mentioned trying to trade for Blackmon months ago before he was back from suspension and could be had cheaper....I would trade our 2nd, 3rd, and a 2nd in2015 for Blackmon any day of the week with a smile on my face....If he had Luck throwing him the ball he could be the BEST WR in the NFL....It's too late now though   I think he has his act together and Jax realizes he is the best player they have ever had and if they draft a QB they can at least start being competitive next year...

Hes got plenty of solid pieces. I trust in Luck enough to be fine the last 9 games. Guys will step up. There will be suprises. Who knows maybe even Rogers or Brazill becomes better than most people think. Take that into account and Wayne and Allen comes back next year.

Wayne will be a shadow of himself he was already slowing down this year...

There aren't many teams where the TE is a go-to option and there are few that use a slot receiver as the first option. Most teams use outside receivers which is much easier. They aren't ready this year anyways. The Colts want a superbowl now. They don't have a #1 option on their team for this years run.

Fleener and Hilton will become the new go to guys! I trust in both that they can do this job!

I would absolutely love Blackmon. He is my favorite option. He could be a really good WR especially when given a QB of Luck's caliber.

I hope you realize I wasn't saying we SHOULD send those draft picks.

As much as I want us to, I doubt we do anything if we don't make a move by Friday....Even if we do get someone it's gonna take a month or 2 for them to get acclimated and learn the offense just in time for a Super Bowl run...I think Brazill could do some good things, but he is another small receiver and will never be close to a #1...Gordon is a bonafide #1 and with Luck would be a top 5 guy and this would open up things for Hilton and especially TRich..It would take a 2nd and 5th and possibly even a 2nd and 3rd , but it could be the difference in winning a Super Bowl now ....Bottom line is Gordon is waaay better than anyone we could get a the bottom of 2nd and 3rd combined and we will have the cap space to still sign an Alex Mack at C and a ILB and CB in Free Agency...We have a few more years to load our team and field the most talent before we have to pay Luck and be hamstrung by the cap like the Manning years so I would be all in....Then a few years down the road we will have to start making tough decisions...I want to see us just go for it next couple years and then when we have to start paying our guys 2nd contracts that's when it's time to really focus on the draft....I really hope Luck isn't gonna want 25 million like he could get and wants to win and play for a measly 15 million..

    • Next year imagine the Colts will be looking at 2 QBs.  My top dual threat/mobile pocket passers are Jalen Milroe, Grayson McCall, and KJ Jefferson.   For offensive lineman got to love LT Kelvin Banks Jr who managed to hold his own versus Will Anderson a few years ago and LG Donovan Jackson.  Jackson has generated all-conference honors the past two seasons; Nelson's contract expires at the end of 2026 where he will be 30 years old.   So far for running backs I like Treveyon Henderson, DJ Giddens, and Kyle Monangai.  Each back knows how to secure the rock.  Last I checked both Dalvin Cook and Damien Harris are still free agents that would improve our roster.   Not sure if we need a top talented wide receiver early but am interested in Tre Harris and Ricky White.  While De'Corian Clark been compared to Alec Pierce and made Bruce Feldman's Freak list.  Still need to see where his high school numbers would have ranked compared to this year's draft class.     Plenty of defensive lineman to like in the next draft and probably one of the best groups coming out.   Edge Princely Umanmielen - one I feel is a fit for the Colts Edge Jack Sawyer is another stud that I want to pair with Latu and Paye Edge James Pearce Jr. DT 3-tech Tyleik Williams Edge/DL Mykel Willaims - as a freshman led all FBS true freshman edge defenders LDT Kenneth Grant NT/DT Walter Nolan Edge Dani Dennis-Sutton Edge Landon Jackson Edge Patrick Payton Edge Tyler Baron DL Shermar Turner - been one of the more disruptive DTs in the SEC.  Has a quick first step and body control to shoot the gaps. NT/DT Tonka Hemingway Edge Jasheen Davis NT/DT Alfred Collins. Linebackers got an interesting group of prospects to keep an eye on from the following: WLB Jack Kiser WLB Danny Stutsman LB Dasan McCullough MLB/OLB Jay Higgins LB/Edge Collin Oliver LB Eugene Asante SLB/Edge Khordae Sydnor LB Keaten Wade LB/Edge Steve Linton WLB Eric Gentry Read where some say this is a very weak safety class but got a few that seem to have potential.  This draft class I noticed more excel in press/man more than zone but still very capable of playing both.  Some of the defensive backs I like so far are: LCB Will Johnson CB Benjamin Morrison CB Ricardo Hallman SS Kevin Winston Jr - Blackmon signed a 1-year deal but only a 2% missed tackle rate and ranked 2nd among all safeties in 2023. SS Xavier Nwankpa - 4.39s-forty speed reminds me of Nick Cross FS Rod Moore - excellent 4.40s-forty speed FS Hunter Wohler - slower 4.52s-forty speed, if can improve his speed might be better than Rod Moore CB Tacario Davis CB Maxwell Hairston FS Jahdae Barron CB Jacobee Bryant CB Jordan Hancock CB Denver Harris SS Keon Sabb CB Malik Spencer CB Aydan White CB Tommi Hill - In 2023 had an outstanding QB rating when targeted of 38.6.  With another solid year Hill could move up the draft boards. Still on the lookout of those players not listed on the primary draft boards that the Colts always seem to find hidden gems to draft.
    • This is the list of Retired Colts Numbers. Peyton Manning — No. 18 Johnny Unitas — No. 19 Buddy Young — No. 22 Lenny Moore — No. 24 Art Donovan — No. 70 Jim Parker — No. 77 Raymond Berry — No. 82 Gino Marchetti — No. 89
    • a lot of the recent super bowl winners had game changing tight ends bowers would have been a nice addition but i like who we got, imo an a plus draft
    • Ballard has said in a recent presser that Paye needs to get better as a pass rusher, so I doubt they are getting what they want from him.
    • Agree. They may have been calling the Cards at 4 for Harrison and then just kept offering to trade with teams every pick there after until Nabers, Odunze and Bowers were gone.
