For those that can't see the link, it just talks about 25 position battles in the AFC. For us the battles are:

Bradshaw vs Ballard

Walden vs Werner

Hilton vs Heyward Bey ( I presume 2nd WR)

from this, I have 2 questions:

1. who will win these position battles by the time opening day starts?

and

2. What other position battles will occur at training camp for us?

1.  Ballard will start day one, while we rest Bradshaw.

2.  Walden will start in order to establish a "stop the run" attitude, but Werner will see playing time in the first series.

3.  Heyward-Bey will start opposite Wayne with Hilton in the slot.

I don't think any of those are battles, they'll all play in certain scenarios.

Battles are for the third G and S, fourth WR.

Starting RG, ILB (beside Freeman), NT, maybe 4th CB. Those are the only positions we really don't know what the rotation/hierarchy is just yet.

I'd love to see Iljalana win the starting G spot, with Thorton as his backup. Or Thorton with Reitz as the backup.

Just some thoughts on Kelvin Sheppard from linebacker coach Fitzgerald from a while back:

“What we saw on tape was a guy who could find the football, was able to get down in the box and do some really good physical, attack type of things, both in the blitz game and playing base, taking on blockers and doing that.

“He seemed to have a very good understanding of what the scheme was and where he fit in the run game and what he was able to do coming out of the box.”

Also Brad Wells said Sheppard worked with the 1st team during OTA's (don't know how much truth you can put in brad but it wouldn't had been a surprise if Sheppard was)

    • Irsay surely wants colts fans to pack LOS…but at the end of the day all that really matters is butts in the seats…the only thing the financials need regardless of jersey color.   I do wish that the stadium was more Colts fans…but the product has been so poor these past number of years I’m sure many fans just want prefer to follow from home.
    • The 49ers are my favorite NFC team and I watch 80% of their games, and he’s a guy who can be good on the outside. Just don’t move him in as a nickel because he gets lost with regularity. Thats what got him on the outs in SF. They moved him inside and… eeeeeeeeh 😬.
    • yup, every time they trot gay out even on an extra point I just say well it’s a 50/50 parlay at this point. It sucks that if a game is on the line I am terrified if Gay is called upon for anything longer than 40-45 yards…and from closer I am still nervous at best. Terrible feeling. Kickers gotta make those points way more often than they miss from all reasonable distances. You know anything from 7-54 yards. Anything over 54 and I’m just going to say it’s a crapshoot for almost any kicker.
    • I think it’s not a major problem Bears fans travel well to start with and the short drive to Indy when they are excited about their team and Colts fans weren’t after an 0-2 start explains that one and again Steelers fans travel well probably better than any other fan base in the league.  You always notice them no matter where they are playing.  Once the Colts get back to playing teams like the Jags, Titans, Dolphins, and Bills it will be back to normal.
