Dwight Freeney traded on Thurs?

Recommended Posts

Who would we be getting in return to bolster the pass rush alongside Mathis? There is no feasible trade that would make sense at this point. You can say what he is or is not doing, but the fact still stands that the man still requires double and triple teams at times. I'm still expecting some big games from the old pro. He'll deliver, just wait and see!

We are keeping Freeney, if Freeney was going to be traded then it should have been done before 7 weeks worth of checks have came off the books

Didn't I tell you they were going to be releasing Dixon! I guess now we should be looking for Chapman to be put on the Active roster

Freeney's money is already guaranteed now so no.

Yes, it is guaranteed... thus if traded, the team that takes on his contract must pay him, not the Colts. We simply cannot cut him to save his contract, but a trade is a much different scenario.

i've said it 100 times. The Colts are not exactly thrilled with his contract, but no one else is for that matter. He has absolutely no trade value because his salary negates any contribution he can make to his next team. He's roughly at 1 million per game (14mil/16 games).

The likelihood of finding a team that wants him bad enough to give up something for him isn't good. He's got 3 tackles and a sack this year. Not exciting numbers.

Long story short, it simply isn't likely that a team wants to pay him 1 million per game, and give up anything of value to get him, when he'll likely be a free agent next season. If his salary was lower, it'd make sense, but it is simply too high.

Does anyone think #93 could be traded and taken off our hands on Thursday?

No because we are in the playoff hunt and we can use Freeney right now even though he's been invisible this whole season.

This is how I feel....He's been hurt..and when we get the 9-day break after Jacksonville, he'll get a lot better.

Trading him would be a signal we're giving up on this season

    • Definitely. He said the same things last year that he said this year in defending AD. He just didn't name the player he was talking about. I think QBs were the topic, so it could have applied to Levis or Stroud, but it was obvious he was talking about Stroud.   This year, some agencies advised their clients not to take the S2 test. That's about all I remember about it. I think the cognitive testing process has some image rehab to do, and if they can keep scores and results out of the public sphere, that's a good start for them.
    • He’s not wrong.  Stroud was getting killed based on doing poorly on the new test to measure mental aptitude.   Strictly on that basis it was good to see Stroud succeed.      PS —. Speaking of that test, did we hear anything about that in the 2924 draft?   I didn’t read a single story about it.   Did you?
    • Go to about the 23 minute mark if you want to hear. Below is from the Youtube transcript:   one of the things I struggle with is spend so much time tearing down 23:29 19 20 21 year old kids with unnamed sources in the media that just I mean 23:36 why like wh why just I don't understand where the benefit is in that and if I 23:45 think if you go back in history and you look at the guy some of the guys that have been ripped apart and tore down um 23:51 some of them have been really successful I look I went off the year before about CJ stra with CJ and people were killing 23:58 killing him over a over over a test and I mean he he debunked that pretty 24:06 quickly
    • I was always told, "If you can't say something nice about someone, don't say anything at all". If Ballard said anything nice about Reich, he was wrong.
    • His injury story is probably one of the saddest stories in the league. I am sure he misses playing like crazy. Just goes to show take advantage while your playing because you never know when it will end.  To have the game you love taken away so abruptly is very sad. I am sure he will end up in tv at some point.
