Sean Payton contract extension voided by NFL

11 posts in this topic

Just saw this breaking news on sport center. Sean Payton will be a free agent after this season.

Speculation says he could come over and be the Cowboy head coach next year. Or he could remain with the Saints.

Does he stay or does he go? Interesting situation.

He'll stay with the Saints.

I was told once, a certain someone in Cleveland was no doubt going to stay with the Cavaliers, and we should all know how that turned out lol.

But I agree. He's a god in New Orleans why leave?

I dont see why he would leave the Saints. The city wants him there, brees wants him there and the owner im sure wants him there. Im sure Benson will pay him a ton of money to stay.

Id imagine the Cowboys would have to back the federal reserve up to his door step to pry him away. I guess its possible though knowing Jones.

Why the NFL did this is beyond me, this is so stupid. Oh wait I forgot, we're the big bad "bounty' hunters, nevermind  . Confirmed bounty pool running in Houston and the Jets organization right now and the NFL don't care at all, but it's always used to demonize the Saints and scapegoat us.

It's about the wording in the contract. Plus this was being investigated in 2011, before all the bounty stuff.

Which means if they fix the wording they could just do a new deal quickly if Payton wants too.

Wasn't Payton an assistant under 'da Tuna in Dallas? Wasn't he partly involved in the selection of Romo? And did they attend same college? Hmmmm.....

    • How could we pass on Whitehair in the 2nd round?
It seems that you are trying to debate or argue for the sake of arguing, all on the premise that you have a different talent evaluation opinion.  Such is off topic.   The O.P. asked the question of how could they pass on Whitehair, and as I responded, the answer is obvious, that answer being because it is THEIR opinion that doing so was the right thing to do.   Your disagreeing with the evaluations of tptb within the Colts organization strays from the O.P. question as posed, and would be better served being put into a thread entitled "Questioning or disagreeing with draft prospects evaluations and drafting strategies of the Colts Organization".
    • Colts passed on making a GREAT Oline for a long time to come
I love the prospects we have on the OL, I really like Whitehair also. But i honestly think a couple of our guys are more versatile. Green wouldnt have been my first choice in the secondary in round 2 but he was rated by some as the #2 FS in the draft and you have to love the upside. One thing is for certain with the Colts first two picks of the draft, We have our best offensive lineman by position in one  and our best athlete on the roster in the other!  I like it

-Blythe put up 29 reps at the combine. For comparison Travis Frederic...One of the better Centers in the league since being drafted put up 21.   What he lacks:  - bulk -Long Arms. This is why he gets out over his feet sometimes on the move and slips off blocks in an attempt to reach his man in my opinion. He is quick enough however. Savvy NT's with long arms could seriously give him a hard time -Dominant jolt in his hand punch...Which to me his hand punch is a bit slow. He also prefers to catch his man to often. These things have to change or I don't think he has much of a future in the NFL outside being a journeyman or sitting a big chunk of his career as a FA line   What he does well in my opinion:   -Good knee bend -Good hand placement -Strong enough to anchor

I think i saw somthing about him having a camp invite for a work out but that's all
