Colts Hall Of Fame Tracker

With Freeney's induction, I thought I'd share a list of Colts players as a sort of Hall Of Fame Tracker, using the Pro Football Reference "approximate value" rating as a guide.

Interesting to see players like Jeff Saturday, Reggie Wayne, and Tarik Glenn all rated ahead of definitive first-ballot nominee Adam Vinatieri.

And how close Vinatieri is rated to other players that we know will not be nominated.

Also, how far Robert Mathis is down the list!

wAV 176 Peyton Manning, QB, 1998-2015, Hall Of Fame 2021

wAV 132 Marshall Faulk, RB, 1994-2005, Hall Of Fame 2011

I'm curious how these values are calculated?   How could Mathis be that far behind Freeney?  How is Glenn behind Saturday?

Is that a complete list? Glad to see Mike Peterson on the list, one of my all time favorite Colts. Still don't understand how Polian didn't think he was good enough to be resigned. Great player. Where's Eugene Daniel and Ray Buchanan?

lol Jeff George

Amazing that his name would be put out there, isn't it!

Just under 28K yards in 12 seasons, he would have needed another 10k yards to be in real consideration and he was a pariah everywhere he went.

You should add Chris Hinton to your list

Thanks for the heads up.  Since we didn't actually draft Hinton, he fell through the cracks on my list.

wAV 79 Chris Hinton, OT, 1983-1995 (between Dwight Freeney and Adam Vinatieri)

Dallas Clark?

Dallas Clark was further down the list.  Probably due to to his being a matchup guy, rather than a long-time, full-time starter.

wAV 51 Dallas Clark, TE, 2003-2013

It is really difficult for corners to get in. I think there are only 19 corners in the HoF (out of 36 total DB's) and out of that 19, 11 started their career prior to 1980. Eugene and Ray both have some pretty good interception numbers, but not HoF level.
