Colts Signed Ls Matt Overton

We >>>ed the pooch on this one when we let Tamme get away. LS/TE/WR. This is a real loss in this whole free agency thing.

Not sure why you're bringing this up in here, but to me, Tamme was a product of Manning, much like some of our other guys.

In any case, there are better ways to spend 3 million each season than Tamme.

Oh I forgot. You don't know who Vanderjagt is.

Still SJ is a sub 80% career kicker.

AV is a 82.9 career kicker, and 84.9% Colts kicker.

MV is a 86.5 career kicker, and 87.5% Colts kicker. You may not be familiar with the knock Colts fans give to Vandy, but he is one of the most accurate kicker of all-time. Like he said, "You can make hundreds of field goals, the fans remember the one you missed." That one being the Steeler game.

Justin Snow has botched one snap in 192 games.

I stand by we have had the best special teams unit, minus the coverage team, in the decade. Maybe ever.

LOL!!!.... if that's an April Fool's joke you're 2 days late.

C'mon Stryker.... be serious. You're praising our special teams based on long-snapping the ball straight and Vander Choke's FG%??.... and to THAT level no less??

Vander Jagt's stats were fine.... but that miss against Pittsburgh is not something I'm willing to brush under the rug, because especially when it comes to kickers, I don't care about stats... I care about clutch kicks. Even then-Colts rookie K Jim O'Brien hit a game-winning FG in Super Bowl V after having an PAT blocked earlier in the game. But when it REALLY counted he did his job.

Vander Jagt on the other hand vomited.

But aside from Justin Snow and our kickers, and mostly Vinatieri, our so-called return "specialists" in the past decade have struck fear into exactly NO ONE this side of peewee football.... and to my recollection during that time we've blocked very few FGs and/or punts. In another playoff loss to the Chargers, P Mike Scifres single-handedly exploited our chronically horrendous return game and pinned us back repeatedly.

And of course.... there was the on-side kick against the Saints.

I'm sorry.... but apart from the two areas you cherry-picked.... we've stunk to high heavens at the worst possible times on special teams and it has, and still does, require immediate attention. Apart from Vinatieri's kicks when we won the SB, the ST memories are overwhelmingly bad and were it not for our Peyton Manning-led offense... their often circus-level incompetence would have been more costly.

If that's even possible.

This is why I am only talking about our kicker, punter, long snapper, and holder. The core unit of a special teams. Everyone else stunk.

Also he has missed 3 field goals in the playoffs. One to the loss to Miami 17-23, the Jets 41-0, and the Steeler 18-21. You only remember his one miss, but you negate all the other he has made for us to win. Does the Steeler game leave a bad taste in my mouth? Sure. To discredit him on everything is ridiculous. That is like hating Peyton for Super Bowl XLIV.

Vander Jagt had his moments... the FG at Denver in the snow was a good memory and there were others.

But that Steelers loss was a killer because I'm convinced we would have murdered Seattle in the Super Bowl. Plus.... my wife is a Steelers fan and heckles me to this day about that game.

I guess I just get P.O.'d watching guys like Devin Hester and Patrick Peterson put 6 points on the scoreboard 2-3 times per season.... and we have to do an hour's worth of googling to find the last time a Colts return guy scored.

Hopefully Grigson and Pagano can get the right people to where we can put some KO and punt return points on the board and we're not crossing our fingers every time we kick off or punt the ball.
