He`s 30 and has averaged roughly 6-7 sacks a season. Not a fan.

Obviously hes not the first choice and I wouldn't pay him a huge contract. But he does have some ability to add something to your pass rush rotation from a reserve standpoint. 6-8 sacks per year is decent production.

Better player than Mingo, has played some linebacker as well. Can rush the passer and he can cover. I'd look at Irvin as an improvement to our rotation. Not as a big money starter. I also wonder what he'd look like playing on turf for most of the year and being coached by Mathis.

I agree! I believe he'd do well on this turf and Mathis would add to him I think.

Because they don't understand you need good depth also. If you mention a pass rusher they always think you mean the starter. I think we could bring in Lawrence or Ansah along with a guy like Irving. Or bring in just Irving and draft Chubb.

I'm not so sure Irving wouldn't be a starter he's got more sacks then almost everyone on the team here

No, I like Mingo he has more to prove, and I think he had more versatility can play Sam on 1st down and DE on nascar package.
