Loving The Future Look Of This Team

Yeah Manning overcame the worst NFL coach and the worst NFL staff in 2010. He would have likely done it again. Just revel at the feat of beating him once.

But he didn't have to overcome the 2nd best defense in the NFL and arguably the best when he played us.

Let me direct you to this video.

We have to much talent on either side of the ball for you to overcome and a difference in this year we actually played together as a team.

Nice,

'Roid-head Cushing right on the pic.

You should have a good team.

Picking near the top of the the draft every year gets you good players.

He's torched defenses far better than that one.

Is there a video of your team getting beat by a 2-14 team?

Come on, we STILL won the division and had FAR MORE injuries last year than you stated the Texans had this year.

You're not gonna win on a COLTS board.

I wouldn't be this disrespectful on a Texans board.

Of course, I would have no reason to visit a Texans board, unless i was trolling.

I'm not interested in winning on an internet board.

You may have had more injuries numerically but your injuries were not to the big players as ours were. That is an awful argument.

At 3-17 i'm not sure if your interested in winning on the field either.

Did you really just say that last statement. Peyton Manning > any combination of Texans injury.

You know Manning had won 2 of the last 3 MVP's?

Not talking about this year I'm talking about last year.

Sounds like a closet Colts fan imo :D

With these recent hirings on our staff and front office in Grigson as GM, Pagano at HC, Arians at OC, and now Butler as DC, this team looks primed to be VERY well coached for the future. Which is a relief compared to what our coaching has been. Getting a GREAT LBers coach from the Steelers will make our 3-4/4-3 hybrid defense lethal and Im very excited to see it.

Also Im ready to start anew with Andrew Luck at the helm, and I think he has a chance with the help of Arians to be a very good pro QB. Plus we gain a lot of cap room when Manning's contract is no longer on the books. There are much more possibilities with this team now.

........

Rome wasn't built in a day. Manning set the record for most INTs his rookie year. it's a rebuilding process, you can't expect a SB win next year (you can hope though) but you can be excited about the potential of our new coaching staff, defensive scheme and our (possibly) new QB, who has been ranked as the #1 prospect the last 2 years.

Yeah but Lo......I dont want to rebuild..I dont want to be an expansion team....

We need to win while we're moving to the future...

We really cant let go 1/2 our veteran star players and compete in 2012.

I dont think the NFL works that way

Do you know how the NFL works?

Well I'll tell you right now keeping aging veteran stars past their prime is not the way to run your team. Ask the Cowboys, they haven't been the same team since Aikman left. They kept him too long.

The Packers traded Farve when he still had gas in the tank. Nearly a MVP season his first year in Minnesota. Guess what? The Packers have gone on to win a Superbowl since then being led by Favres replacement.

The 49ers traded Joe Montana in his mid-30s to the Cheifs. Guess what? They won a Superbowl with his replacement Steve Young.

If you keep aging veteran stars past their primes your team has nothing to build on. We have the chance to draft the best college QB in a while. We can't keep him and Manning on the same team at the same time, so it's time to choose between building a team to compete for the next 10+ years or try to build a team of aging veterans to compete for 2-4 years TOPS.

And don't give me the excuse "I'd rather win a super bowl in the next 3 years than compete for 10+". Peyton is my favorite player of all-time but he won 1 Superbowl in his prime. He's 36 with terrible neck problem, he's not going to come back as the same Peyton Manning we watched for the first 13 years.

Let's be realistic guys, we're rebuilding around Andrew or RG3. New coaching staff, new defense, new QB, new attitude. Who knows, maybe we can have a year like the Bengals and surprise everyone next year (I know our defense would have to step up). Whatever happens lets all stay true to the team and support the no matter what.

    • I predict all of the players listed as questionable will play.  The Steelers offense is meh.
    • The problem with hiring a defensive guy and tasking him with building that offensive support system is that most of them just don’t have it, and they’re not really capable of building it. There aren’t enough Tom Moore types out there to help institute that long-term knowledgeable stability.    We got lucky with Pagano and Luck having Arians in the building, and largely being the head coach for the majority of Luck’s rookie season. But watching Pagano flail to fill an offensive staff post-Arians was painful, and most of the defensive head coaches struggle in the exact same way. It’s out of their specialty and out of their comfort zone and it just makes it harder than it needs to be on everyone involved.    The most advantageous way to hire a defensive HC is with an already established QB and system that he can just come in and not have to build from the ground up.
    • You should double check. I just did. Womack started both games, with Jaylon Johnson on the other side, and Kenny Moore at nickel.    Against the Packers, Womack got 20 snaps, Flowers got 19. Against the Bears, Womack got 28 snaps, Flowers got 41 (and he left before the game ended, so maybe he would have gotten more). Maybe Flowers was on his way to taking Womack's spot in the lineup, but Womack was on the field as a starter in both games.
    • Game on the line, inconsistent passer at QB, and the OL is the strength of the team. Everyone in the world knew that the first priority was to stop JT. And they couldn't.    I don't know what's with this myth that there's something deficient about JT as a RB. It's nonsense.
    • I think he's probably only using 25% of his playbook so far, for various reasons. Some of that is intentional, as they work in some concepts with a young QB and a young-ish supporting cast.   Another part of it is that the Colts game script has been heavily skewed, especially in the first two games, so the gameplan had to be reduced as the game went along. The offense couldn't stay on the field, and the defense couldn't get off of it. It was better against the Bears, but their offense still ran 30 more plays than ours. Total, our offense has run 87 fewer plays than our opponents. Teams usually script their first 15 offensive plays, and I wonder if the Colts have gotten through that opening script in any of the first three games. So I think there are some things that they'd like to have run, but so far they have not been able to get to them.   I don't think it's a binary 'do we call winning plays, or do we call plays to develop the QB' consideration. I don't necessarily agree that those priorities have to compete with one another, but it does require a balance to do them both justice. I don't think it does this team any good, short term or long term, to restrict Richardson to 15 passing attempts/game, or to use him as an option QB like this is the Navy team, even if they felt like that could be a way to win some games. I also don't think they should coach him as if every game is "winner take all," and have him lay his body on the line or try to drop back 50 times a game.    And we have to blame Richardson and the WRs to a certain extent. There have been a lot of missed throws, drops, and turnovers. Those plays have stalled or ended several possessions, and that's not on the play calling.
