Tressel As Qb Coach?

Tressel never really had a "top flight" QB during his tenure. Sure, he had Pryor, who for a college QB was successful. But Pryor pretty much improvised a lot on the field. His actual mechanics were not that good, but he was a fantastic scrambler/runner. The QBs he had were somewhat successful, but the running game helped a lot and much of the passing game during those years was short to mid-range and ball-control passing.

You're right that he never developed a 'pro style' QB. He did do a pretty good job with Troy Smith and Krenzel. He always said his first priority was winning, not developing players for the NFL. No one can doubt his success.

He has been QB coach, WR coach, RB coach, all on the offensive side in college. I don't see why not.

Clyde has been WR coach for the Colts before, and QB coach for the Bucs before. He couldn't be QB coach here because Dungy had his guy Caldwell in it :) but came over from the Bucs once Dungy was fired and was WR coach for a while for the Colts till recently when he became OC.

He is 60 and has been a HC for the last 25 years of his life ... minus the replay booth stint.

Tressel is NOT the man for the QB job for all of the above reasons. How about John Shoop? He has been the UNC offensive coordinator the past few years (maybe that's why Irsay's jet went to Raleigh), he has both QB and offensive coordinator experience on the pro level and he and Pagano were on same Butch Davis staff at UNC in 2007.

Tressel is 60? Wow, he aged well I guess. He doesnt look that old at all. At least he didnt a few years ago. I havent really seen a picture of him since he was fired from Ohio State. Does anyone know if there is a penalty for a college team to take him as a HC. Will the team have to lose scholarships to hire him?
