Darren Waller, WR, Georgia Tech

Recommended Posts

Funnily enough, I just got finished watching a little of this guy and I look at the team meetings page from CA and the team had met with him already.

He's a huge guy 6'6" 240 lbs who plays to his size and has speed for days. Didn't get may looks in Georgia Tech's option-based offense, but there's no doubt the guy has upside.

Is he a potential UDFA or a late pick would you think.

It's always hard with the Georgia Tech guys because they rarely are thrown the ball.  One one hand you find a gem like Demarious Thomas, on the other hand you end up with a guy like Stephen Hill.   Who knows, but Waller has some great size I'll say that.  Tech always has these big tall pass catchers like this.

Very nice find.    Props to you.

He feels very draftable to me.    Perhaps not high.

But I don't see him not getting drafted.    So, perhaps 6th or 7th round.

He's now on my list of late round WR favorites along with Tre McBride of William and Mary.

He's been on my radar for about 1-2 weeks now. I was thinking about a pre-combine mock draft but didn't get around to it.

I was planning on DraftIng him in 6rd. But am more interested in the possibility of experimenting with him as a TE and hoping he can turn into a J. Graham type of weapon!

He blocked alot at GT because they ran the wishbone mostly, so maybe he can translate to the position .

    • That’s what I’m saying.  If we have to play a back-up FS, I want to make sure he can handle coverage duties, which I think Simpson can.  If we lose something in run support (which we would with Simpson), that’s a secondary concern (pun intended).
    • Insane that the Reds have won so much over the last 10 days, and are yet still in the cellar…    De La Cruz is at least exciting! 10+ HRs and 30+ stolen bases!
    • Dolla Bill$ being paid out makes Pittman & Taylor's contracts look like camp body deals

Percent were zone runs where he earned the third highest grade among the conference’s tackles with a 79.5 mark (Ohio State’s zone-heavy run scheme).  Braden Smith's contract set to expire.  Munford key replacement as an option.
