John Chick.......

Why in the freaking WORLD was this man cut??? Did anyone see his play for the Jags tonight? He was continuously putting pressure on the QB, heck, he even did that in the preseason with us. I doesn't make any sense. With our DE's playing SSOO bad this year, why would (in my mind) a possible flex end who can, CAN, put as much pressure on a QB like Freeney and Mathis be cut? He's a great player and i bet the Colts sure do miss him at this point.

No defensive end matters when your corners are giving 8 yard cushions in the red zone. I think that's being proven decisively by this team. We have much bigger problems than John Chick could solve.

this was an example of polian brashness instead of making the obvious choice. Chick is a work horse and would be a more effective guy in our rotation than hughes and would work hard to create impact on special teams. Proof this team needs a bit of a smack in the face

Not really saying much when they didn't really have a true pass rush specialist all of last year...

Yea, well now they do, and his name is John Chick, so that's plenty of reason for Colts fans to get mad.

ehh...I'd say it's more a reason for Jerry Hughes haters to be mad than Colts fans. We had much more invested in Hughes both in time and money plus Hughes is 5 years younger so imo much better chance of upside with Hughes than Chick.

Like he was going to play that much over Freeney or Mathis, then Anderson or Brayton. He was just dead weight.

I was also hoping we would have kept him, but we have lots of people at DE. We have Freeney, Mathis, Anderson, Brayton and yes, the one and only Hughes. From what I remember, we offered him a spot but also informed him that he wouldn't get lots of playing time. He preferred to go somewhere where he would get lots of playing time

They offered him a spot on the practice squad. The Jags also offered him a spot on the practice squad. He looked at where the Colts stood in terms of DE and where the Jags stood in terms of DE and decided that he would have a better chance of getting bumped up to the active roster with the Jags than he would with the Colts. He was right.

    • I'm very interested in Carlie's as well.  I'm just not sold on our starting LB core.
    • I also forgot to say I think Buffalo will also have a down year.
    • Yeah North.....maybe I got confused about the Pittsburgh Pirates playing in the central.  But I think before realignment there were only 3 divisions, I think.. Like the Colts and Dolphins played in the East, the Raiders and Broncos played in the West and the Steelers and Brownies played in the Central.  But yeah my mistake the Steelers currently in the North division.
    • I just wanted to give Pitt some love for his recent comments about Indy and family values. I also loved what he said about focusing on the long term financially and considering the situation youre in. He appreciates his place in the organization and that speaks volumes about him as a man. The Texans can have guys like Diggs, Im happy with Pitt. Just a top notch dude.    This is a place a lot of people love to hate on, for some reason. But he is living proof that all this rhetoric about how "nobody wants to live in Indiana" is just bonafied baloney. So many former players stick around here after retirement. There is a reason for that.    He is the exact kind of person you would think wouldnt like it here. Rich california kid whose father played in the NFL. Lives on a little farm in Indiana with his wife, who is also from California. And they both love it here.    Those huge cities are very over rated and it isnt for everyone. We just have to find people like Pitt who do and allow them to become pillars of the franchise.
    • "I think he flashed last year and can add some value to the LB room."  And I also responded directly to the LB room question. I will simplify, he has a looooow ceiling.   So what's the Problem, why argue?
