Bronco's Fox gets asked and answers whether or not he is a Conservative HC

So I asked: When he looks in the mirror, does Fox see a conservative coach?

"Well, I won a lot of games being conservative," said Fox, whose victory against Washington was the 101st of his 12-year career as an NFL head coach.

But, at the midterm of the NFL season, the question lingers: Can Fox be the leader who guides the Broncos to the Super Bowl, or is this veteran coach with the 40-grit sandpaper voice and the let-the-good-times-roll laugh merely along for the ride?

Conservative this year?

I do not feel he is...especially offensively.  Broncos on a record scoring pace...

Defense has been beat up and without a 'game shape' Von Miller and Champ Bailey.....I have seen it in the past, but this year?  Not seeing it personally.  I may be missing something.  When you are playing high scoring roulette....how can you be conservative?

If anyone says the 3rd down fumble by Hillman....Peyton could have checked off.

hes gidy, but when OC Csae took over, Elway did so knowing Case would immediately and say and try and implement, pedal to the metal

Fox has to learn when to call a challenge, not 1 has been won this year and none looked close, he should have at other times to me, either he is geting bad advice, esp when done early in a game on a play that either way wouldn't account for much, or just doesnt understand the ins & out about it

So... you're saying Fox is going to win a Super Bowl?

Dont know how new you are around here, but Caldwell's name is mud as a HC in the indy fandom for a percieved lack of doing anything. He won a super bowl as OC of the Ravens last year, sure, but as a HC his resume basically consists of "I collected a paycheck while Peyton ran things."

Thats the perception of Caldwell, and now for some, Fox in Denver.

It was pretty telling that against the colts Fox's team punted on 4th down and Peyton was visibly upset. Then against the redskins Peyton wouldn't even leave the field on 4th. It really looked like Peyton had a long chat with Fox following the colts game. So who is actually running things there? Peyton also audibles so much he probably calls more plays than the OC...

My post was basically a jab at that sentiment (which I am well aware of), although I've commented around here before that I do consider the Ravens' postseason offensive success to mostly be a fluke.

As far as Fox goes, I feel I should point out that the man's a defensive coach first and foremost.  He's actually got a pretty good track record of putting together quality defensive units... so while he might be very conservative in nature, he's not necessarily a bad guy to have paired with the more dynamic and prolific offensive stylings of a Peyton Manning.  He's got kind of a Marty Schottenheimer/Jeff Fischer thing going which is both very good and very bad if you're a Broncos fan.

    • There won’t be anyone to sign if they want that long. But they will probably see what happens in OTA. Personally I don’t think colts have a time line. They are on diggs and Simmons schedule. It’s up to them when they feel like signing.
    • I watched the Kansas St.-Texas game from 2023 today and Mitchell was outstanding in that one. One long td(47 yards), another long reception(37 yards) and he had excellent blocks on CJ Baxters' 47 yard td run and two other excellent blocks that sprung runners for huge gains. If you had only watched the first half of that game while scouting Mitchell and saw nothing else you would have taken him in the top 10. That is how impressive he was in the first half of that game. I'll add this also, when watching Texas games from last year watch Mitchell BLOCK. I'm no scout and I don't watch 100's of hours of film, but from what I've seen of him at Georgia and his one year at Texas I don't know how he fell to number 52. Welcome to the Colts Adonai, I hope you burn up the league this year! Go Colts!
    • I was referring muscle-wise not his actual weight. Compared to the start of the season where imo he looked smaller, I think he added a lot more muscle
    • But he carries it well.   Honestly I doubt he’s that big now….   One would think he’s in good shape now that he’s being active for the first time in roughly 6+ months.     Im just thinking out loud….
    • CJ also made comments about being glad he wasn't drafted by Indy and how Indy is boring. I know he has the nice "humble beginnings" story, but he's making himself feel like a villain early. You don't want to annoy people that might be your future coworkers or employers. It's a bad look.
